

TAHLEQUAH, OK- Memorial services for Betty Jo (Parker) Campbell will be held on May 20, 2014 at 11:00 at the First Christian Church of Tahlequah with Pastor Ann Jordan officiating. Visitation for Betty will be held on May 19, 2014 at the Reed-Culver Chapel from 12:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Interment will take place at Tahlequah City Cemetery next to her husband, David Campbell. Betty Jo (Parker) Campbell was born on May 4th, 1927 in Enid, Oklahoma, the daughter of Rex and Gladys (Stephenson) Parker. She graduated from Enid High School in 1944, and began working as a bookkeeper with Swift and Company. In January of 1945, she began attending Oklahoma A&M. It was here she met and married David Walker Campbell. They married on March 15th, 1947 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. This union was blessed with 54 years of love and memories and three children, Michael David, Christopher Alan, and Ellen Sue.
Betty helped provide for her family by working hard to make a home, raising vegetable gardens, and canning the harvest. She was a talented seamstress and created beautiful pieces of needlework. She enjoyed nature and bird watching and classical music. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Tahlequah and the Christian Women's Fellowship, where she was always available to her church family. In addition she spent many hours serving her community through volunteerism at Tahlequah City Hospital. She was sweet, caring, and generous, and her family and friends, alike, enjoyed her sense of humor. Betty spent quality time enjoying her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Betty went home to her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 14th, 2014 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, at the age of 87, with her loved ones by her side. For all the love and selfless acts she demonstrated daily, Betty will be greatly missed.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Dallas Parker, and her husband David. Those left to cherish her memory include her adoring children, Michael Campbell and wife Rita of Norman, Oklahoma, Chris Campbell and wife Sandy of Moore, Oklahoma, and Ellen (Campbell) Forrester of Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She leaves one sister, Barbara (Parker) Adams and husband David of Moscow, Idaho. Her legacy lives on in her seven grandchildren, Carissa McComb, Teri McGlaston, Aaron Campbell, Frances Campbell, Ryan Campbell, Jared Rountree, and Breanna Rountree. She leaves her five great-grandchildren, Cody Campbell, Draven McComb, MeKayla McGlaston, Mikah McGlaston, and Kadyn McGlaston, and nieces Lisa Egan and Amy Luft, and nephew, Gary Austin, as well as many cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
Betty’s pallbearers include her grandsons, Aaron Campbell, Jared Rountree, Naghi McGlaston, Cody Campbell, Ryan Campbell, and good friend, Steve Perry.
