Betty Jo “Bee” Gonzalis was born on Monday, July 10, 1967 in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of Bob and Louella (Duck) Gonzalis. She was raised alongside her two older brothers, Bobby and Gary. She graduated from Stilwell High School and began her working career with Cherokee Nation, as a Floor Supervisor, watching over the students living in the dorms. She had also worked as a Forest Ranger in Yellowstone National Park, until her parents health began to fail them and she returned to care for them. She was Bee to her friends and Sissy to her family. Sissy truly loved life to the fullest and nothing was more important to her than the family she loved and adored. Gatherings were very important to Sissy because being surrounded by the people she loved meant everything to her. She was delighted to have her family and friends around. She was always there for her nieces and nephews, whom she called her “Brats” and “noise makers”. Even though she never birthed children she was like a mother to them. When the “Brats” and Noise makers” had children of their own she called their babies her “Super Babies”. She was so excited to be a great aunt and made a point to be apart of all of their lives. Sissy had the ability to reach people in deep and positive ways. She was compassionate, loving, talented and always put the needs of those around her ahead of her own. She loved animals, especially Cats, and adored their companionship. Traveling was a passion she had, and any chance to see what was going on somewhere else was always fun for Sissy. Her hobbies include reading books, writing poetry and she was also a talented artist. She also enjoyed chatting on the internet with her many friends. She was a Baptist by faith and a member of the Cherrytree Baptist Church. Sissy demonstrated her love of the Lord by doing whatever was asked of her, and doing it with a servant's heart and a big smile. The Lord called this remarkable woman home from her labors on Saturday, August 17th, 2019 in Tulsa, OK surrounded by those who loved her. She was 52 years old. She leaves a vacant chair that can never be filled.
She is preceded in death by her Mother, Father, her beloved grandparents, Annie Diver, Cornelius Duck and Lizzie Duck, and a nephew, Eric Gonzales.
Those left to cherish her memory include her brothers and their families, Bobby Gonzales and wife Marilyn of St. Louis, MO, and Gary Gonzales and companion Opal Daugherty of Stilwell, OK. She leaves her many nieces and nephews, Aretha Bullock, Evelyn Gonzales, Christina Gonzales, Tierra Simmons, Shannon Overschmidt, Kandace Gonzales, Robert Ray Gonzales, Bobby Michael Gonzales, Steven Gonzales, Jonathon Gonzales, Mikah Gonzales and Tyler Martkart, as well as many great nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones far too numerous to mention.
