Beverly Jean Marler, or Grandma Bev to her family, was born on Tuesday, July 17th, 1934 in Tulsa, Ok, the daughter of Harvey and Lillie (Winfield) Killough. She grew up in a household with 6 brothers and sisters, and attended school in the Teresita neighborhood. When she turned 16 years old, she met and married Charley "Dean" Marler, and together, they would raise a family of four sons and one daughter. The most important part of Beverly’s life was her husband, children and grandchildren. She worked most of her working career as a cook at Oaks Mission School, her meals were comforting and her presence was Grandmother to many of the students at oaks. When she went home, her family was given the benefits of her culinary arts, her pies, cakes and cookies were unbeatable and her Christmas candy was tops on everyones list of favorites for the holidays. Grandma Bev’s Thanksgiving dinners were always monumental affairs, and the food, perfection! She made sure everyone of her sons learned to be a good cook. Beverly never failed to raise a large garden and canned the produce to make her mouthwatering winter meals. The 4th of July holiday always found Beverly at the creek, swimming with her family and talking the day away. Then there was Christmas, and Bev knew and loved every single Christmas carol she heard. Her days included Jeopardy, reading a book a day, watching old movies, Elvis was her favorite, and spending time with her friends at the casino. There were trips to Tunica, and she loved just going around the countryside to visit with her neighbors and friends. She was strong willed, determined, and knew what she wanted from life. She adored her family, and their presence made that famous smile of hers bright. She was genuine, and you always knew where you stood with Grandma Bev. She lost her husband Dean in 2011. She remained close to the family she loved. The Lord called this hard working, wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend home from her labors on Tuesday, October 8th, 2019 in Siloam Springs, AR. She was 85 years old and will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, grandparents, Aaron and Annie Killough, and Richard and Amanda Winfield, one son, Charles Wayne Marler, and two brothers, Otis and Howard Killough.
