Funeral services for Billy Joe Thompson will be held Monday, August 13th, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Reed-Culver Chapel with Brother DJ McCarter officiating. His final resting place is Swimmer Cemetery in Lost City, OK. A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 12th, 2018 from 2:00pm until 6:00pm at Reed-Culver Funeral Home. Billy Joe Thompson was born on March 29th, 1936 in Tahlequah, OK in Cherokee County, the son of D and Bessie (Dreadfulwater) Thompson. Billy was known for always helping others as a Hospital chaplain and he was humbled to serve his Lord. Billy was a simple kind of man and enjoyed being around his family including his wife Jean (Ford) Thompson, his sister Eva, and his nieces and nephews, always providing them with ice cream and candy. When Billy wasn’t busy with his appliance repair business, you could find him watching old westerns on his down time. In 1956, Billy enlisted into the United States Air Force as a Basic Airman. He served faithfully and honorably for 2 years and 11 months and came back home to his family. Billy believed in his faith and returned to the Lord on Wednesday, August 8th, 2018 at the age of 82 with his family by his side. He will be greatly cherished by all who loved him.
He is preceded in death by his father, mother, one brother, James Thompson and one sister, Betty (Thompson) Still.
He is survived by his two sons, Steve (Blossom) Thompson, Chris Thompson and wife Beatrice of Tahlequah, OK, two brothers, Johnny Thompson and wife Becky of Tulsa, OK and JB Thompson of Tahlequah, OK, one sister, Eva Thompson of Tahlequah, OK, one niece he helped raise, Stella Campbell and husband Darrell of Cookson, OK, great nephew, Corey Still of Norman, OK, great niece, Chelsea Campbell of Tahlequah, OK, great great nieces, Payton Jones and Jaycee Mouse, and great great nephew, Karsyn Jones with a host of other nieces and nephews, friends, and loved ones.
