Carolyn Carpenter Buckhorn was born on Saturday, May 30th, 1953 in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of Harold and Lois Maxine (McCarter) Carpenter. She attended school and graduated from Tahlequah High School, then began her working career at Midwestern Nursery, and Cherokee Nation for many years. She later began a new career at Dal-Tile in Muskogee as a sorter. She married Jimmy Buckhorn and together they raised two sons, Brian and Matthew Buckhorn. Her family was the most important part of Carolyn’s life, and she spent every spare moment in the company of her favorite people, her grandkids. When she had the chance, you could find her outdoors working in her flower garden, or maybe in the kitchen making her famous Indian Tacos for her family to enjoy. She was so easygoing, gentle and kind, quick to smile and slow to anger. She enjoyed the simple things in life, like sitting on the front step, watching the sun go down, and any excuse she could find to have her family over for a backyard Barbeque. The evenings were devoted to reading and working in her puzzle books. For all the plans she made to carry through, she passed from this life on Saturday, March 9th, 2019 in Tahlequah, OK, with her family by her side. She was 65 years old.
She is preceded in death by her mother, father, two brothers, James Carpenter and William Carpenter, and one sister, Merry Jones.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Brian Buckhorn and Matthew Buckhorn both of Tahlequah, and her brother, Glen Carpenter also of Tahlequah. She lives on in her grandchildren, Larissa Buckhorn, Jacob Buckhorn and Makenzie Buckhorn, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friend and loved ones.
