Carolyn Jean Hix was born on June 21st, 1953, in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of Bobby Jean and Kathryn Louise (Carlile) Musgrove. She grew up with a brother, Bobby Wayne, attended school in Tahlequah and then began her studies at Northeastern State University. It was at this time she would meet and marry her best friend, Danny Hix, on June 30th, 1972, in Qualls, OK. This union was blessed with three children, Bradley, Dana and Joshua. Carolyn worked outside the home at the Lowery School System in the Dietary Dept, and as a Paraprofessional caring for Special Needs Students. The job she loved the most was caring for Danny, the kids, the grandkids and the whole family. She was always busy around the house, and always had a project, sewing, quilting, raising flowers in the garden, chasing chickens around the yard, and simply enjoying the view from her own backyard. She was a great cook, and could make the best chicken and dumplings, beans and cornbread, and her famous Thanksgiving Pumpkin Roll! There was nothing better than a holiday coming with another chance to chase her beloved grandchildren around the house. She liked time spent on Facebook, keeping up with the latest, hitting the garage sales, flea markets and a little time shopping for antiques. She liked to go with Danny to the casino where she could find out the latest and maybe win a little money. She was a little on the ornery side and followed that with a stubborn streak, but her sense of humor and her large and generous heart made her the perfect wife, mother, grandmother, and friend you could ever ask for. She gave freely of her time and talents to all her friends and neighbors. Life wasn’t always easy for Carolyn. Her health could keep her from doing all the things she planned, but she always kept trying for the next project. A Christian by faith, she prayed for the family she loved and lived her life to make things better for others. The Lord called this wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and neighbor home from her labors on May 4th, 2021 in Tahlequah, OK, surrounded by those she loved so much. She was 67 years old and will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Albert Commodore and Ollie Carlile and Jim and Maggie Musgrove. She also joins her mother and father and her brother Bobby Wayne Musgove.
She will be loved and cherished by her husband, Danny Hix of the home and her children, Bradley Hix and Joshua Hix both of Tahlequah, OK and her daughter, Dana Ledford and husband Corey of Moore OK. She lives on in her seven grandchildren, Chase Vanover and wife Maida of Claremore, OK, Dayton Lowe of Moore, OK, Ranson Lowe of Sallisaw, Ok, River Hix of Cookson, OK, Braley Hix of Tulsa, OK, Pyper Hix of Cookson, OK, and Cannon Ledford of Moore, OK. She also leaves two great grandchildren, Jett Vanover and Baby Boy Vanover soon to join the family. She will be lovingly remembered by her step mother, Marylin Musgrove of Tahlequah, OK, and her sisters, Brandie Willard and husband Dave of Jenks, Ok and Sherrie Catron of Tahlequah, OK, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and neighbors too numerous to mention.
