Charley Curtis Jones Jr., or “Bubba” to his friends and family, was born on Wednesday, December 6th, 1972 in Lawton, OK, the son of Charley Curtis Jones Sr. and Mary Francis (Adair) Hensley. He was raised with one sister, Leighann Renee. When he was about one year old, he suffered a really bad inner ear infection that paralyzed one side of his face, giving him difficulty with his speech. From that time on, he called his sister “Giggi”. He was required to attend a lot of speech therapy and he used this to his advantage. Anytime he wanted her to do something for him, he would call her Giggi, it always worked. He attended school at Stilwell and Briggs, where he played basketball. He moved to Alabama to live with his dad for awhile and attended Weaver High School. Charley spent a lot of time with his family taking care of the house and building fences, riding his horse, bicycle and motorcycle. Charley spent a lot of his time swimming at the creek and playing horseshoes. He loved playing pool, and dancing! He was very good at dancing, and anytime he was at the bar, the ladies lined up to dance with him. He loved music, and although he never played an instrument, he was an air guitar superhero, and played the dashdrums like a madman. He had a green thumb and a passion for landscaping. This would become his career. He worked at numerous lawn care services both here and at Edmond, and worked at Greenleaf Nursery as well. He was the proud father of one son and one daughter, and had recently become a grandfather. He was so proud of their accomplishments. He beamed with pride the day his son graduated from school, and bragged that most kids would have given up considering the struggles his son endured to get his diploma. Every accomplishment his daughter made, he was on the phone telling everyone in the family. He struggled with the thought of her having a boyfriend, and often talked how he would have to handle it. Most of these plans involved a firearm of some sort. His sister would remind him that it was the inevitable and she would get her heart broke. Charley always ended these conversations with “Better Not!!” Charley was always the life of the party and had a good time where ever he went. He was friendly, and funny always telling jokes and stories. He was still keeping entertained cracking jokes in his final hours. Charley passed from this life on Monday, April 12th, 2021 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 48 years, 4 months, and 6 days. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his father, Charley Jones Sr., his stepdad, Donald Hensley, Maternal grandparents, Walter Scott and Myrtle (West) Adair, and paternal grandparents, Bruce and Mary Jones.
