David Lee Buchanan was born October 31, 1959 in Tahlequah, OK, the son of Ted Brown and Gennie (Grimmett) Russell. He spent his younger years in Eastern Oklahoma and was blessed to be part of a big family with twelve siblings. David was a free spirit, taking to the road and traveling wherever he felt led. He relocated to South Dakota for a time and later to California until he recently moved back home to be closer to family. No matter what, he lived in the moment and could bring life to any party. He was a fan of old rock-n-roll music and had a way of getting a laugh out of anyone he met. He had no fear of being silly and loved to joke around, flaunting those curly locks of his to the ladies. His hobbies included telling slightly embellished stories of old times, finding the punchline in any situation and “kickin’ it” with his sisters, brothers and family he adored. On September 30, 2025, he passed from this life at the age of 65 years old. His humor and joy he brought to others will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Jess and Laura (Washington) Grimmett and Nannie Brown, parents, Ted Brown and Gennie Russell, his son, Jonathan Buchanan, two sisters, Joyce Ballard and Barbara Thompson along with two brothers-in-law, Bob Ballard and Marcus Rock.
Those left to remember him include his daughter, Kristen Eaton and, six brothers, Ricky Lee Buchanan of Muskogee, OK, Jerry Brown of Okmulgee, OK, Johnny Lee Brown of Oklahoma, Gary Lee Reece of Oklahoma City, OK, Andrew Brown of Tuttle, OK and Anthony Brown, also of Tuttle, OK and four sisters, Jimmie Ann Bloodworth of Ratliff City, OK, Lori Bradley and husband Tom of Westville, OK, Brenda Rock of Tahlequah, OK and Mary Wildcat and husband Jonathan of Braggs, OK as well as many nieces, nephews and a host of friends and loved ones.
