Hulbert, OK- Funeral services for Delmar Ray Bailey will be held on Monday, February 4th, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Reed-Culver Funeral Home with Chaplain Carolyn Heltzel officiating. Interment will take place at Hulbert IOOF Cemetery with US Army Honors by Ft. Sill Army Base.
Delmar Ray Bailey was born on July 31st, 1941 in Tahlequah, OK, the son of Augustus and Mamie (Jewell) Bailey he attended and graduated from Hulbert High School. Delmar joined the US Army and served his country, during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in October 1970, after receiving the Purple Heart. He returned to his home in Oklahoma, where he worked as a sanitation technician in Broken Arrow. Delmar was a very self sufficient man. There was very little in life he couldn’t fix, he fixed his own vehicles when they broke down, he grew large gardens and canned his own produce. He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He enjoyed the solitude of the woods early in the morning and a quiet day on the farm. He was a devoted father and grandfather, who enjoyed a laugh and a visit with his family. He was a member of the VFW #474, and had made a dedication of his life to Christ, becoming a Baptist by faith before going to his eternal home on January 31st, 2013 in Muskogee, OK. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Delmar is preceded in death by his parents, and his four brothers and three sisters, Robert, Dillard, Denver, and Lester Bailey and Mary Bailey, Jessie Shankles, and Artie Thompson.
Delmar is fondly remembered by his only child, daughter, Rebecca Carey and husband Marlin of Hulbert, OK, and his three grandchildren, Nathan, Brittany, and Mariah Carey, as well as two beloved great grandchildren, Austin Carey and Melanie Carey . His memory lives on in his many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
