Donna Rae (Seba) Murphy was born on April 15th, 1933 in Tribune, KS, the daughter of Henry and Violet (Rasmussen) Seba. She was one of eleven children in the Seba clan, she had three half-sisters Viola, Valeta, and Bertha, and two half-brothers, Valdo and Donald “Don” and four brothers Duane, Henry “Gary”, James “Jim” and Julius, “Norman” along with her sister Delores. She grew up in Tribune, Kansas, and graduated from Greeley County High School. From an early age, she always put other people first before herself. In 1951, she met a handsome man who had just gotten out of the Army after serving in Germany. Donna and Carl Jennings Murphy exchanged their marriage vows on April 5th, 1953, in Tribune, KS. Together they would share the next 65 years together and raise a family of three sons and one daughter. Carl worked for the Kansas Dept of Transportation, while Donna worked a variety of jobs mainly in the medical field as a Nurses Aide and EMT. She also joined her husband in raising 2,000 rabbits for pelts, meat and pets, and taking care of her family and friends that she loved so much. When she wasn’t working, and that was seldom, she was busy with the kids in 4H, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, playing a good game of cards and square dancing! Donna and Carl belonged to the Country Cousins and the Spurs and Garters Square Dance Club. Donna even sewed the square dancing outfits they wore to go dancing. Their home was lovingly referred to as the “Murphy Motel”, because the door was always open, there was always room for one more at the table, and their gracious hospitality was extended to everyone! The biggest smile on Donna’s face appeared whenever she was with her family especially the grand and great grandchildren. She was never too busy to rock a baby to sleep or chase them around the yard. Donna was a strong Christian woman who loved the Lord with all her heart and soul. She faithfully read her Bible and John 3:16 was her favorite verse. Donna lost her husband, Carl in 2018, so she immersed herself even more into the family she loved and the God she served. She passed on May 29th, 2022. She was 89 years old. There will never be another smile as sweet as hers and her love and kindness will never be forgotten.
Donna has gone home to be with her beloved husband Carl, her parents Henry and Violet Seba, her grandparents, Julius and Annie Rasmussen, her brothers, Valdo, Don, Duane, Jim, and Norman Seba. She also joins her four sisters, Viola Jordan, Valeta Rasmussen, Bertha Kuck, and Delores Seba and one grandson, Taylor Oglesby.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Carl Murphy Jr. and (Nancy) of Kansas, City, KS, Vicki Fair and (Michael) of Helotes, TX, Dale Murphy and (Anna) of Hulbert, Ok, and Jerald Murphy and (Christine) of Garden City, KS. She leaves one brother, Gary Seba and (Ann) of Lubbock, TX and one brother-in-law, Milford “Bud” Rasmussen of Lamar Colorado. Donna lives on in her six grandchildren, Natasha Oglesby, Jacque Rodriguez and (Jake), Sonja Murphy and (Robert Cox), Shane Murphy, Josh Murphy and (Elizabeth), Vera “Eileen” Fair and step-granddaughter Cheyenne Harness. Her great grandchildren include Tucker Oglesby, Alexander Rodriguez, Catlin Rodriguez, James Rodriguez, Gunner Murphy and Avery Murphy, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
