Doyle "Pete" Dean Tennin, a man of adventure, skill, and passion for the outdoors, passed away on July 21, 2025, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Born on July 18, 1954, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Doyle was a twin, sharing a special bond with his sister, Karen. Growing up in the rural area of Tahlequah, Doyle developed a love for the land, the outdoors, and the craft of fixing and building things.
Doyle's joys were many: hunting, fishing, working on old cars, building houses, and constructing things with his own hands. Above all, he loved coon hunting – a passion that connected him to the night woods and the thrill of the chase. Country music filled his days, and in his youth, he enjoyed watching westerns like "The Rifleman" and classics starring John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. Doyle also loved attending car shows and participating in them, showcasing his restored classic cars and muscle cars. He was a “Jack of All Trades” and a sharpshooter, who had no problem telling you like it was or speaking his mind.
Doyle is preceded in death by his grandparents, Allen B Tinnin and Lena Bell Tinnin; his parents, Darrell Tannehill and Laura Geneva May Walker (Tinnin); his brothers, Carl Tinnin, and Cecil Tinnin; his grandson Jace; his cousin, Larry Tucker; and his nephew, Jimmy Sparks.
Those left to carry on his legacy include his sons, Doyle Wayne Tinnin and wife Lori Jo, Anthony Dean Tinnin; his daughters, Laura Bell Geist and husband Luke, April Beatrice Tinnin, Chandler Lynn Tennin and husband Brandon, Kasey Diane Tennin; his brothers, Kenneth Tinnin, Roy Tinnin, Mitchell Walker, Paul Walker; his sisters, Karen, Maggie, Pam, Jodie, Shirley, Francis; his grandchildren, Kallee, Garrett, Kylen, Kirsten, Haddlea, Carter, Jarrod, Jerry, Jesslyn, Cooper, Carson, Cutler, Stetson ; his great grandchildren, Dawson, Braylee, Kolbee, Oakley; his nephew Joseph Sparks; and several other nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
Doyle "Pete" Dean Tennin's love for life, his skill with his hands, and his passion for the outdoors left a mark on all who knew him. His memory will live on in the stories of his adventures, the cars he restored, and the love he shared.
