Eva Maxine Anderson

Eva Maxine McHenry-Anderson, also known as China Doll by many, was born on September 1st, 1956 in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of Clyde McHenry and Jo Martha (Hair) Vance. She grew up in a household with three brothers and six sisters, Ada Marie, Peggy, Champ, Bob, Cleta, Kristie, Jay, Carrie and Allura. She attended school in Tahlequah, OK. Growing up, she enjoyed listening to B.B. King, Janis Joplin and Stevie Ray Vaughn. Eva loved to dance, and never missed the chance to sit around and listen to her favorite music with her best friend, Chauncey. When the music was not playing, you could find her in front of the TV watching a good Western or talking with the neighborhood kids that called her “Granny”. In her younger years, her past time included playing with her siblings and Thomas Blair, throwing hubcaps across the street. Eva had two sons and one daughter, Allen Dale, Nona Marie and William Wayne. She worked as a Certified Nurse Aide. She was always in the company of her canine companion “Lil Sugar”. The Lord called this warm and wonderful woman home from her long battle with cancer on December 9th, 2023 in her home, surrounded by family and friends. She was 67 years old. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Eva is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Marie Hawkins, her mother and father, Jo Martha and Clyde, her brothers, Champ and Bob McHenry, her sister, Ada Marie Hamilton, a nephew Michael Hamilton, and great nephew Witten Stopp.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Allen Dale McHenry of Tahlequah, Nona Marie McHenry of Tahlequah and William Wayne Anderson of Tulsa, OK. She leaves her brothers and sisters, Peggy Guy of Woodall, OK, Cleta Kinsey and husband Ron of Norman, OK, Kristie Vance Osburn and husband Richard of Long Branch, WA, Jay Edward Vance of Tahlequah, OK, Carrie Grayson and husband Tim of Tahlequah, OK, and Allura Vance and Lacey Crawford of Tahlequah, OK. Eva lives on in her 10 grandchildren, Angel Callie and husband James, Hannah McHenry and Mailliw Jackson, and Taylor Gandy all of Tahlequah, AJ McHenry of Houston, Elizabeth Johnson of Colorado. Katie McHenry of Tahlequah, Jessica Nunez of Stilwell, Kristalena Anderson of Sallisaw, Kathryn Seabourn of Georgia, Hazel Seabourn, Elijah Seabourn, Trish Lee of Georgia, Alexis Snow and Ally Snow. She also leaves her great grandchildren, Ember Lynn Hooper, Jordyn Hooper, Elias Jackson, Kenzie Shae, Brayden Callie, Syruss Armando McHenry and SaVeya Jackson, and a very best friend, Chauncey Scott of Muskogee, OK. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.

Funeral services for Eva Maxine McHenry-Anderson will be held on Thursday, December 14th, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Reed-Culver Chapel with Pastor Racy officiating. She will be laid to rest at Swimmer Cemetery in Hulbert, OK.

Pallbearers for Eva Maxine include Archie Terrapin, Jake Stopp, Skylar Terrapin, Eric Russell, Christian Self, Rodney Hiatt, and Lacey Crawford. Her honorary pallbearers include Allen McHenry, William Anderson, Chauncey Scott, AJ McHenry, Johnny Gandy, Justin Hooper, Mailliw Jackson and Jay Vance.
