Evelyn Anne Wolfe-Wyatt, or “Evie” to her family and friends, was born on February 11th, 1949, in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of William Roy and Evelyn Lavada (Fortner) Wolfe. She grew up with one brother, Roy Curtis and one sister, Barbara Sue, and graduated from Tahlequah High School. She started her studies at NSU. She met her best friend and the father of her children, Weston Mirl Wyatt. They were married in April of 1984 in Tahlequah, OK. Together they raised a family of two children, two stepsons, and one stepdaughter, James, Ahna, Allen, Matthew and Shannon. She worked her entire professional career as a transcriptionist for the Tahlequah City Hospital, and as the Hospice Coordinator for Cherokee Nation Home Health. She was a people person and it showed. She always had a bright smile and a way of talking to people that made them feel at ease. She cared for all those around her, and went out of her way to make life just a little bit easier for those in need. She volunteered with CASA, was a member of the Soroptimists and loved working with S Club in the high school, delivered food for Senior Citizens so no one went without a meal, and yet always had time for her family and their activities as well. Her favorite activities included dancing, anytime anywhere, she loved it, and music, Elvis was one of her favorites. She wrote poetry, was working on a novel, could sew and quilt with the best of them, and could weave beautiful baskets. She had recently enrolled at NSU in English class. She was happy, bold and always ready to try something new and wonderful. Give her a room full of strangers and in a little while, they were friends. Evie loved her grandchildren, and watching all their activities. There was always something new to try and some way to help others she hadn’t tried yet. She was proud of her Cherokee heritage. A Christian by faith, the Lord called this hard working woman home from all her many duties on December 31st, 2020 at Tahlequah, OK. She was 71 years old and leaves so many wonderful memories for her family and friends to keep.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, her mother and father, her brother, Roy Curtis Wolfe, and one cousins, Dixie Wolfe.
Those left to celebrate her life include her husband, Weston Mirl Wyatt of the home in Tahlequah, one son, James Weston Wyatt of the home, and one daughter, Ahna Hendrickson and husband Ronnie “Chooch” all of Tahlequah.
