Flora Mae Drywater was born on May 17th, 1941, in Tulsa, OK, the daughter of Claude and Ella Faye (O’Neill) Wilson. She was raised along with eight brothers and two sisters, Boyd Wilson, Thomas Wilson, Earl Wilson, Richard Wilson, Everett Wilson, Mamie Wilson, Mary Wilson, Claudie Wilson, Carl Wilson and a baby, Ben Wilson. The family moved from Tulsa to the Wolf Springs area, where she attended school. She transferred to Bagley high School in Tahlequah. Once done with school, she started a family and was the proud Mother of Carolyn, Freddie, Dennis and Kristopher. In her younger years, she remembers fighting with her brothers, especially Richard. While raising her own family, she knew hard work, cutting wood, picking cotton, chopping tobacco, harvesting fruit, hauling hay, bartending, nursery worker, and finally Home Health Aide. Her life was her husband, children and grandchildren. When she had a spare minute, she loved to go fishing. She enjoyed a good word search puzzle, raising garden, and telling quite a few good jokes. This lady knew how to cook, and you knew you were in for a treat when she made her meatloaf, mac n cheese, brown beans and cornbread, all served piping hot alongside her fresh grown tomatoes and fried potatoes. She possessed a feisty disposition, and had a stubborn streak that never ended. She loved to play games in the evenings, including Farkle, Rummy, Yahtzee, and Dominoes. Her life was not without its fair share of heartaches. She lost a husband, and her son, Freddie as well as a great granddaughter, Kali Waterdown, a grandson, Matthew Spencer, her brothers, Boyd, Thomas, Everett, and Baby Ben, and her parents. Her faith in God held her up. She was a regular worshipper at Prayer House in Tahlequah. The Lord called this long working, strong backed, determined wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend home from her many labors on May 29th, 2024 at her home, surrounded by those that knew and loved her. She was 83 years old and will never be replaced.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Carolyn Methvin and husband Steve of Tahlequah, Dennis Guinn and wife Sarah and Kristopher Guinn and wife Elisha all of Hulbert, OK, Val Drywater and wife Tina of Washington, and Jack Drywater of Tahlequah. Her brothers and sisters include Earl Wilson of Kansas, OK, Richard Wilson and wife Sylvia of Tahlequah, Mamie Peugh and husband Vernon of Cherryvale, KS, Mary Green and Jeffery of Texas, Claudie Wilson and wife Pat of Tahlequah, OK, and Carl Wilson and wife Doris of Tahlequah, OK. She lives on in her 18 grandchildren, Michael Guinn, Juan Salazar Jr and wife Shawna, Alicia Salazar and Steven Ballou Cassandra Sparks and husband Joseph, David Hall, Alexi Guinn, Jacob Guinn, Dakota Guinn, Kambree Guinn, Kristopher Guinn Jr, Allyssa Guinn, Kendall Guinn, Johnny Guinn, Billy Drywater, Todd Nanamkin, Johnny Drywater, Cole Drywater and Punch Drywater both of Tahlequah and Meagan Elwell and husband Waylon.
