Freddie Wayne Upton

Freddie Wayne Upton was born on April 27th, 1950 in Talihina, OK, the son of Francis Cecil and Betty Lee (Jacobs) Upton. He was raised with two brothers and one sister, Ricky, Russell, and Barbara. The family lived for awhile in Carlsbad, NM, and it was here that Freddie attended school and graduated. He returned to the Muskogee area and it was here that he raised his family. He was the proud father of three children, Jamie Upton, Nathan Rex Upton, and Katherine Upton- Fairchilds. He was employed at WW Hastings Hospital as a Sanitation Technician. He had a sweet smile and a kind demeanor with the people he encountered daily. He worked hard at anything he did, and always looked out for his family and friends. On March 25th, 2017, he married his best friend, Carolina Lydia Leach in Eufaula, OK. These two enjoyed each others company and loved traveling together from Branson, MO to all over the state of Oklahoma, seeing the sights and just enjoying life. Freddie loved the great outdoors, fishing, hunting deer and ducks, time spent at the river and lake, picnics, and watching football. He gardened and took pride in his tomatoes. He was also a good cook and made his kids their favorite foods for their birthday celebrations, and his daughter always got his famous ribs. He was usually in the company of his canine companion Nikki. He was an animal lover especially dogs. Freddie was a lot of fun to be around, and he had a delightful sense of humor. He liked to hear the latest and chat with his family and friends. He wasn’t one for shopping or hanging out in large groups of people, but loved the view from his own yard. He had 4 grandchildren, and was very proud of all their accomplishments and always looked forward to seeing them at Holidays. He passed form this life on January 2nd, 2022, in Tahlequah, OK after reaching the age of 71 years. He will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother and father, and one sister, Barbara Torix.

Those left to celebrate his memory include his wife Carolina Upton of the home. He also leaves his children, Katherine Fairchilds and husband Shawn of Bridge City,TX, Jamie Upton and wife Arlinda of Eufaula, OK, and Nathan Rex Upton of McAlester, OK. He also leaves two brothers, Ricky Upton of Muskogee, OK, and Russell Baker and wife Lana of Muskogee, OK. He will live on in his four grandchildren, Tyler Western-Fairchilds and wife Kaitlin of Bridge City, TX, Talynn Western-Fairchilds of Bridge City, TX, Larissa Upton of Eufaula, OK, and Caleb Upton of Eufaula, OK, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.

Funeral services for Freddie Wayne Upton will be held on Friday, January 7th, 2022, at 9:15 AM at Reed-Culver Chapel. He will be interred at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery at 11:00 AM with US Army Honors. His family will have a visitation on Thursday, January 6th, 2022, beginning at 1:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Reed-Culver.
