Geneva Carol (Phillips) Lindsey was born March 20, 1939 in Tahlequah, OK, to Tom and Jennie (Dick) Phillips. She was one of 14 children. She was raised in Cherokee heritage as a first language speaker. After attending school, she went on to marry James Lindsey. Their union was blessed with six children, Dale, Sandra, Debbie, Wayne, Mark and Becky. She loved people and everyone she met, loved her in return. She enjoyed volunteering to keep active in the community and share a smile or a laugh. She possessed the sweetest soul and brought life to any party. She loved music, especially the old country classics and a good game of bingo. She wasn’t afraid to seize the moment and never missed an opportunity to dance and be silly, especially with her granddaughters. Some of her favorite memories were dancing to American Bandstand with her favorite nieces, traveling with her daughter and time spent with family and friends. She looked forward to holiday gatherings and seeing everyone at their family reunions. She was a Christian by faith, often reciting her beloved scripture, Isaiah 41:10, resting in comfort of Jehovah God and His promises all the days of her life. Geneva passed away peacefully Sunday, March 2, 2025 in Tulsa, OK with family by her side.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James Lindsey, parents, Tom and Jennie Phillips, three sons, Maurice Dale Lindsey, Michael Wayne Lindsey and Mark Anthony Lindsey, one daughter, Charlene Deborah Smith, four brothers, Carl, Jimmy, Andrew and Jack “Jake” Phillips, eight sisters, Ellen Hicks, Betsy Shade, Bessie Crittenden, Annie Pettit, Maybelle Chuculate, Lorene Fratrick, Elizabeth Poor and an infant sister, as well as one granddaughter, Carolyn Dougherty.
