George "Speedy" J Smith-Chism

Funeral services for George Allen “Speedy” Smith-Chism will be held on Friday, June 30th, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Reed-Culver Chapel with Pastor Joe Wilson officiating. He will be laid to rest at Ross Cemetery in Tahlequah, OK.

Pallbearers for Speedy include Dominique McDonald, Larry Chastain, Brandon Chism, Darius Chism, Antonio Golden and Floyd McDonald.

George Allen “Speedy” Smith-Chism was born on March 1st, 1982 in Wagoner, OK, the son of Glen Dale Chism and Carolyn Smith. He grew up in the Melvin, by Hulbert area and attended school there. He was happiest when playing basketball, riding his bicycle and swimming at the Wildwood lake, and going fishing with his friends. He loved time spent with his family and was always ready to go to grandma’s house for some of her fried chicken, beans and cornbread and the best peach cobbler in the county. He was an aficionado of Rap music and listened constantly. Speedy was usually in the company of his favorite canine companion “Boss”, who was just as big as he was loved. Life wasn’t always easy for Speedy, he had some rough patches as a child. Yet he always managed to keep trying, always smiled whenever he could. There was nothing better than summer days spent with his grandma and his favorite Aunt Bunny, always there with a hug. He was raised in church and was a Baptist by faith. The Lord called Speedy from this earthly home to his eternal home on April 30th, 2023 in Tulsa, OK. He was 41 years old and will be missed.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Cooey and Thelma McDonald and Louise Sanders and Bill Chism. He is also preceded by his mother, Carolyn Smith, and by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Those left to celebrate his life include his father, Glen Dale Chism of Wagoner, OK, sister, Carrie Smith of California, his sister Amber Jones of Kansas City, MO, his brother Ronnie Smith of California, Aunt Leann Sanders of Muskogee, his Aunt Bunny, Rosie Jones of Tahlequah, OK, as well as many cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
