Helen Ruby (Purdom) Byers went to be with her Lord on Friday, November 27, 2020 having reached the age of 90 years, 6 month, and 13 days. She leaves behind 5 children, son, Doug Mason and his wife Debra, daughter, Ilene Byers, daughter Susan Palmer, son Russell Byers and his wife Cathy and son Jack Byers and his wife Justine. Helen was preceeded in death by her oldest son Mitchell Mason.
Helen was born on May 14, 1930 to Al and Sarah (Reeves) Purdom in Maude, Oklahoma. She and her family moved around quite a lot in her early life, including going to California during the Depression. She met and married her love Charlie Byers in 1952. They remained in-love throughout both their lives. She retired from NSU in 1998 after a career in food service where she made many lifelong friends.
Along with her children she leaves behind Wanda, the wife of Mitchell Mason, a sister, Blanche (Twiggy) Pierce, and Grandchildren; Gary Mason Pitson and wife Sandra, Jennifer Patrick and husband Rob, Aaron Mason and wife Victoria, Emily Langston and husband Jeremy, Amanda Van Every, Zachery Palmer, Ashley Wilson, Chery Ybanez and husband Chuck, Nathan Byers, Brad Byers, Cory Byers and wife Ellen, Nikki Byers, Justin Baisden and wife Jennifer, Lenvil Baisden and wife Megan, Elore Capansky and husband Chance, and 35 great grandchildren.
She was proceeded by her mom and dad Al and Sadie Reeves Purdom, husband Charlie Byers, son Mitchell Mason, brother Trav Purdom, and sisters Vade Scott, Irene Purdom, and Nadine Wagers.
We who knew and loved Helen will miss her greatly, but we are comforted with the memories she created for us and the knowledge she is celebrating in Heaven.
