Jackie Wayne Patterson, or Jack by many of his friends and family, was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on August 10th, 1934. He was the son of Oscar A. Patterson, Lucy Ann (Phillips) Patterson-Goss and contributed much of his raising to his step-dad, Joe Goss, who he looked to as a father figure throughout his life. He grew up in Stilwell, where he made his home and career. Jack was called to serve his country, joining the United States Army in 1953, serving our country in Korea from the year 1954 until his honorable discharge in December 15th, 1955. As proud as Jack was of the time he gave in the military, he could not wait to get home to marry his best friend and soulmate, Loraine Hooper, who had been anxiously awaiting his return. These two were united in marriage on December 22nd, 1955 in Tahlequah, the very next day following his arrival back home. Together they were blessed with one son and one daughter, Jackie and Genia. Jack was not afraid of hard work, faithfully providing for family, working for Stilwell Foods for 40 years as Cook Room Foreman and retiring as a Refrigeration Technician within the HVAC Department. Even after his retirement, he got into repairing small engines for the next 20 some years. Everything he did in life was for Loraine and his family. He always made sure his wife had a warm home, never letting the firewood run low for the wood stove and tending to the chores around the house. It made his day to pick up treats and goodies for Loraine and the grandkids. Jack possessed such qualities of loyalty and integrity that others could always depend on. He spent his life putting his wife and family above himself and stood as a beacon of strength and stability for them. He was a longtime member of the Wauhillau Free Holiness Church, serving as Sunday School Teacher and as a deacon until his health would not allow him to attend. This good and faithful servant was called from his labors on Monday, April 3rd, 2023 in Stilwell, Oklahoma. He will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Those that have gone on before include his parents, Oscar A. Patterson and Lucy Ann Goss and his step-father, Joe M. Goss, whom he dearly loved.
He will be remembered by his loving wife, Loraine Patterson of Stilwell, Oklahoma, son, Jackie Patterson and wife Debbie of Prairie Grove, Arkansas and one daughter, Genia Patterson of Stilwell, Oklahoma along with one sister, Judy Britt also of Stilwell, Oklahoma.
