James Randolph Streitenberger, or “Streit” to his many friends, was born on October 8th, 1925, in El Reno, OK, the son of Guy Leslie Adam and Kitty Eliose (Curtis) Streitenberger. He was raised in a family with two brothers, Curtis and George and one sister, Bernice. He graduated from El Reno High School. Shortly after his 18th birthday, he enlisted in the Army Air Core (US Air Force), honorably serving in WWII as a turret gunner in the European Theatre of War, until, during a fly mission over Germany, his team was informed, "Turn it around boys. War's over. Let's go home!" He married Norma Mathews, and they bore a daughter, Jan, and his son, Randy, who was born while Streit was serving in the Korean War. During the '60's, while stationed in France, he and his family enjoyed exploring Europe. Towards the end of his military career, he was stationed at Tinker Air Force Base. After retirement, he and Norma moved to Chicken Creek at Lake Tenkiller, where he enjoyed boating, fishing, bird watching (he recognized all area birds, and shot at squirrels with a pellet gun if they messed with his bird feeders), traveling, family, daily dose of Merlot wine, casino, watching the OU Sooners, gardening, golfing. Streit was a member of the NW Arkansas Miata Club. Three years after Norma passed, he met and married his second wife, Naomi Faye Wilson-Tallent, on October 21st, 2006 in Cookson, OK. They shared a heartwarming life together. Streit passed from this life on Thursday, October 29th, 2020, surrounded by loved ones. He was 95 years old. He was a good man.
Streit is preceded in death by his grandparents, his mom and dad, his first wife, Norma, their son, Randy, brothers Curtis and George Howard, and his sister, Bernice Cross.
