Jessie Cook was born on December 28th, 1949 in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of Coy and Anawaka (Hensley) Neugin. She grew up in a household with three brothers and two sisters, Jimmy Vaughn, Orville Neugin, Joyce Cloud, Norma Neugin, and Darrel Jackson. She attended school then obtained her Cosmetologist degree and operated her own hair salon. She was never one to sit for long and also worked as a sanitation technician for WW Hastings Hospital and a horticulturist. The love of her life was her children, she raised three sons and three daughters, David Cloud, Anjilla Cloud, Richard Ellyson, Jamie Walker, Skylar Swift and Billy Ray Cook. When she wasn’t working, Jessie loved to cook and made some of the best Cajun food, her gumbo was the comfort food of the family and nobody made pie and cake better than Jessie. She loved the outdoors and worked in her garden raising beautiful vegetables and flowers. She really liked animals and always had rabbits, exotic birds, horses and teacup chihuahua’s around the house. She could sew and made hand stitched quilts and clothing for her family. She was happiest when getting ready to go camping and fishing, or for a long leisurely ride on her motorcycle. She was outgoing and loved people, and never met a stranger. Everyone was welcome to her home. She was blessed with a great sense of humor and loved to make people around her smile. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were precious to her and she loved any chance to spend time with them for an afternoon of talk and play. Her life wasn’t always easy, but Jessie was never one to give up easily. She married Thomas Leroy Cook and they enjoyed many wonderful years together until his passing in 2008. She was a Christian by faith and a member of Liberty Baptist Church. Her health began to fail her and the Lord called this good and hard working servant home from her labors on April 30th, 2018 in Tahlequah, OK. She was 68 years old and will be greatly missed by all the family and friends she leaves behind. She is preceded in death by her mother, father, husband Leroy, one sister, Norma Neugin and one daughter, Jamie Rebecca Cook-Walker. Those left to celebrate her life include her children, David Cloud and companion Laura Cook of Warner, OK, Anjilla Cloud of Tahlequah, Richard Ellyson and companion Misty Pilcher of Westville, OK, Skylar Swift and husband Cornelius of Tahlequah, OK, and Billy Ray Cook also of Tahlequah, and one step-daughter, Laura Beth Cook of Warner, OK. She leaves her brothers and sister, Jimmy Vaughn and wife Debbie of Stilwell, OK, Orville Neugin and wife Lereen of Cherokee County, OK, Joyce Cloud and husband David of Cherokee County, OK, and Darrel Jackson also of Cherokee County, OK. She lives on in her three grandchildren, Jason Cook and companion Kayla Atkinson of Muskogee, Lucas Ellyson and wife Tori of Westville, and Logan Walker of Cherokee County, OK.
