Joe Daniel Weese

Joe Daniel Weese was born September 17, 1952 in Spiro, OK, the son of Harold Weese and Aline (Garner) DeWitt. He graduated from Tahlequah High School and went on to build a strong work ethic that defined much of his life. For many years, he worked as a medical courier for SmithKline & Beecham, or know now as Diagnostic Laboratory of Oklahoma (DLO).

On January 9, 1988, Joe married the love of his life, Delores Jean Key, whom he affectionately called "PJ," at the United Methodist Church in Muskogee. Together they built a life centered on love, faith, and devotion. In recent years, as PJ's health declined, Joe lovingly devoted himself to her care, faithfully standing by her side with unwavering compassion and commitment. His love for her was evident in every act of kindness and sacrifice.

Joe found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved playing the guitar and was a devoted fan of Oklahoma University athletics, cheering on the Sooners in football, softball, and baseball. He adored his beloved dog, Little Bit, and treasured the time they spent taking walks together. Joe also took great pride in keeping his old red truck shining, a reflection of the care he put into everything he loved.

Family meant everything to Joe. He cherished every opportunity to visit his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed going to their ball games and celebrating their accomplishments any chance he could. Joe passed away peacefully on July 31, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Having made his heart ready, Joe departed this life with a steadfast Christian faith and the hope of eternal life. He was known as a go-getter, a hard worker, and a good-hearted man who was always willing to lend a helping hand. His quiet strength, generous spirit, and genuine love for others will be remembered by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Johnnie and Aline Dewitt. He also joins one sister, Connie McGee and his fur-baby, Little Bit.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Delores Weese and his father, Harold Weese of Keys, OK. He leaves his two daughters, Stephanie Wren and husband Andy of Checotah, OK and JoLynda McMurtrey and husband Brian of Tahlequah, OK and one sister, Shelia Walker and husband Rick of Tahlequah, OK. His legacy lives on through his four grandchildren, Courtney Box and husband Lincoln of Stigler, OK, Cole McMurtrey and wife Ali of Tahlequah, OK, Chase Wren of Del City, OK and Peyton McMurtrey of Tahlequah, OK, three great-grandchildren, Everleigh McMurtrey, Miles McMurtrey and Savannah Box, along many friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.

Visitation will be held on August 6, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Reed-Culver Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on August 7, 2026 at 11:00 am. at New Hope Cemetery in Spiro, OK with his son-in-law, Brian McMurtrey, officiating.
