John Sapp was born on February 2nd, 1950 in Claremore, OK, the son of Sanders and Jennie (Proctor) Sapp. He grew up with four brothers and three sisters, Billy Joe, Bobby Joe, Johnny, his twin, Henry, Lizzie, Mary and Annie. He attended school at Oaks and then enlisted into the United States Army beginning his enlistment in Ft. Lewis, Washington and serving with the Sixth Army honorably until his discharge in 1971 on Christmas Day, having attained the rank of E4. John then went to work in telephone cable construction, retiring from Brand Rex in Siloam Springs. On April 17th, 1979, he married his best friend and the love of his life, Mary Martha Gourd. Together, they would raise three sons and one daughter and share all of lifes adventures together. When he wasn’t working, he loved to play and sing Gospel music, playing the guitar and later teaching himself the fiddle. He enjoyed taking his family fishing, and maybe to the nearest flea market to find a deal. He loved time at home raising vegetable to share with his family and making yard ornaments out of old tires, there were alligators to be made! He had a great sense of humor and made people laugh. In his youth he played softball, and later in life, was the biggest fan his kids had when they played ball. He was the neighbor and friend that was there when you needed him, and asked nothing in return. He adored his children and thought his grandchildren the best people in the whole world. A Christian by faith, he was a member of Steeley Baptist Church, serving where asked. The Lord called this wonderful son, husband, father and grandfather home from his labors on December 17th, 2020 with those he loved by his side. He was 70 years old and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Price Sapp, Grandpa and Grandma Proctor, Mom and Dad, Sister Betty Budder and great-granddaughter, Carter Sapp-Mouse in 2016.
