Jose Guadalupe Mares

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Jose “Lupe” Guadalupe Mares on Friday, July 21st, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Brigid Catholic Church on 807 Crafton Street with Father Stuart Crevcoure officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 20th, 2017 beginning at noon until at 6:00 pm at Reed-Culver Chapel with a Rosary beginning at 6:00 pm. Interment will be held at Downing Family Cemetery in Cherokee County, OK. Online condolences for his family may be left at www.reedculver.com.

Pallbearers for Lupe include Francisco Mares, Trenton Tudor, Jordan Houston, Matthew factor, Valentine Mares, and Manuel Mares. Javier Mares will serve as his Honorary Pallbearer.

Jose Guadalupe Mares, or Lupe to his many family and friends, was born on July 10th, 1998 in Tulsa, Ok, the son of Javier and Alice Mae (Center) Mares. He was born a twin to his sister, Maria, and grew up in a family of two brothers and two sisters. He attended school, but preferred working construction. Lupe was a very talented young man, writing beautiful songs and singing as well, rapping being his speciality. He was a hard worker, and was never one to shy away from hard labor, but rolled up his sleeves to work along side his friends. His free time was always spent with his family, he adored his younger brothers and sisters and planned on having a family of his own someday. What was unique about Lupe was his ability to make people around him feel loved and wanted. His heart was big and he was a gentle spirit, always thinking more of those around him than himself. He was a devout Christian and enjoyed engaging in conversations about God and what Jesus had for his purpose. Sometimes the heavens need a young bright star, and Lupe was called to his heavenly home on July 16th, 2017, having attained the young age of 19 years. He leaves a deep void that can never be filled, but he will be cherished and loved always.

Those left to mourn his passing include his mother and father, Javier Mares and Alice Mae Center, his grandparents Francisco Mares Prado and Lucia Avalos Navarro, and his brothers and sisters, Liam Romero Center, Steven Lopez, Rejina Center, Brooklyn Watters, and his twin sister, Maria Mares all of Tahlequah.

He leaves his grandmother, Vonny Downing of Tahlequah, his aunts, Ester Mares, Elvira Mares, Carmen Mares, Michelle Downing, Karridean Anquoe, and Kesha Lambert. His Uncles include Todd Downing, James Center, Antonio Santana, Francisco Mares, Manuel Mares, Heriberto Mares, Ramon Mares, Isidro Mares, Guadalupe Mares, Magdaleno Mares, Nicolas Mares, and Salvador Mares. Lupe also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones. Until we see you again Lupe, you are forever loved.
