Julienne Powell, 60, was born October 6, 1965, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to Tommy and Julie Powell. She passed away August 15, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, leaving behind a family and community who loved her dearly.
Julienne was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud Nanny, sister, auntie, and dedicated member of the Oaks community. She and her husband, David, shared 36 years of marriage and built a life centered around the family she loved more than anything. David was not only her husband, but her best friend and partner through everything life brought their way.
Julienne was her children’s biggest supporter and spent countless hours at baseball and basketball games. From T-ball through high school, her son Jason played more than 800 baseball games, and Julienne proudly kept the scorebook for every game. As a Nanny and auntie, she continued that same devotion, attending school activities, games, and special events for her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Julienne dedicated much of her life to serving others and the community she loved. She spent 27 years at Oaks Public School, more than 10 years as a houseparent at Oaks Indian Mission, and later five years as an administrative assistant, where she enjoyed working alongside her daughter Ashley. Julienne also proudly served as Mayor of Oaks. Through her many years of service, she touched the lives of countless children, families, coworkers, and friends.
Julienne loved shopping and all things beautiful—perfume, jewelry, clothes, beauty products, and especially shoes. A true fashionista, she took pride in looking her best. She was known for her beauty, but it was her warm, beautiful smile that people will remember most.
Julienne was preceded in death by her parents, Tommy and Julie Powell; her in-laws, Mose and Mary Sanders; and her sister-in-law, April Sanders.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, David; daughter, Ashley and husband Dan Cooper; brother/son, Tommy Powell and wife Carey Glass; son Jon and wife Shanae Sanders; son Darin and wife Angelina Sanders; son Jason Sanders; son Tree and wife Danita Sanders.
She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Julia and Cameron Cooper, Izzy, Nevaeh, Nakayah, Mose, Journey, Nikole, and Axl Sanders; and her precious great-granddaughter, Kinsley Cooper; nieces and nephews, including Alyssa Harmon, Tommy Powell III, and Zach Glass; and a host of extended family and loved ones.
Julienne’s greatest joy was simply being there for the people she loved. Her family will forever miss her beautiful smile, her sense of style, her presence in the stands, and the love she gave so freely.
