Kathryn was happiest outside, whether she was hunting, fishing, or just sitting around swapping stories with family. She spent years teaching hunter safety classes, passing on the kind of common sense and respect for nature that never goes out of style.
For more than 40 years, Kathryn was behind a drum set, making noise in the best way possible. She didn’t need an audience, just sticks and a good reason to play.
Her skill with a bow earned her a feature in Oklahoma Outdoors as a female archer, something she was proud of and well deserved.
Kathryn is survived by her sons, Chris Byrd, Eric Byrd, and Wesley Byrd; her longtime companion, Marion Menning; her sister, Kim Holt; along with many grandchildren, extended family, and friends who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Louella Walker (Hallmark); her uncle, Jimmy Walker; and her brother, Robert Walker.
Kathryn lived life outdoors, on her own terms, with no interest in pretending to be anyone else. She will be remembered for her grit, her laugh, and her way of making every day a little less boring.
