Kenneth Lee Welch

Kenneth Lee Welch was born on November 9th, 1946 in Tahlequah, OK, the son of Luke and Nora (Spears) Welch. He grew up in a home with one sister, Sharon, and brothers, Gary and Marvin. The Hulbert Community was home and he attended school and graduating from school. He was enlisted into the United States Army on February 8th, 1966 and was inducted into the 552nd Military Police Company. He served in Vietnam, receiving the National Defense Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and his Sharpshooter Ribbon. On January 16th, 1968, he was honorably discharged into the Army Reserve. He returned and decided to work in the construction industry and that was his career for most of his working life. He married Barbara Morrison and together they enjoyed life and raised a family of four children, Clifton Moore, Christie Moore, William Moore, and Shawn Moore. When Kenneth wasn’t working, Kenneth enjoyed sharing a cup of coffee with his friends and hearing the latest news. He loved music and enjoyed playing his guitar. He found time every day to read his Bible and was a Christian by faith. He was patient and kind and loved his family dearly. The Lord called this good and faithful servant home from his many labors on April 8th, 2023 at his home. He was 76 years old and will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother and father, his beloved wife Barbara, and his sister, Sharon Grass, brothers, Gary Welch, Marvin (Si) Welch who grew up in Lost City and the Hulbert Community and one niece, Sherrie Grass, step sons, Clifton Moore, William Moore and Shawn Moore.

Those left to celebrate his memory include his daughter, Christie Moore. He lives on in his grandchildren, Marice Leopard, Joshua Moore, Micah Moore, Amanda Moore and April Moore, and ten great grandchildren. He also leaves two nieces, Angie Grass and Shawna Justice, one great niece, Kia Jumper, three nephews, Anthony Justice, Kevin Benson and Bobby Grass, one great nephew, Eli Baldridge, and daughter-in-law, Marti Moore, as well as many cousins and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.

Graveside services for Kenneth Lee Welch will be held on Tuesday, April 18th, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Tahlequah, OK with Pastor Sam Keener officiating. There will be a visitation from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Reed-Culver prior to his services.

Pallbearers include Joshua Moore, Micah Moore, Jason Winesburg, Cameron Coon, and Jackson Coon. Honorary Pallbearers include Jim Sams, Loy Shade, Kelly Whitekiller, Andy Bird, James Gourd, David Marrs.
