Larry Lee Cain

Larry Lee Cain was born on May 6th, 1947 in Stilwell, OK, the son of Claude and Ola Mae (Moore) Cain. He grew up in a household with five brothers and six sisters, Freeman, Steve, Jay, Charlie, Estell, Loretta, Galeta, Elsie, Thelma, Viola, and Wanda. Theirs was a loving family that enjoyed every chance they had to congregate and share the day. He met the love of his life and the mother of his child, Lucille Hummingbird, and together they raised a daughter, Velma. He was a plumber by trade, working for over 8 years at NSU and later working at OGE Power Plant in Muskogee, doing contract repair for this and several other companies. He often used his skills to help others that might not be able to get ahold of a plumber. He loved to curl up in his chair at night and watch the old westerns. He was a Baptist by faith and attended Elm Tree Baptist Church. There was nothing he liked more than gospel singing at the church. He was happy, always with a smile or grin, and thoughtful, and enjoyed the view from his own backyard. His family was the best part of his life, and every holiday and special celebration, he couldn’t wait to gather together to share a meal or just share a cup of coffee and the latest news. He was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren, he thought they were the best. The Lord called this hard working family man home from his many labors on July 21st, 2021 in Tahlequah, OK. He was 74 years old.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother and father, his brothers, Freeman, Steve, Jay, Charlie, and Estell Cain and four sisters, Elsie Christie, Thelma Edwards, Viola Cain and Wanda Cain, while still an infant, and one grandchild, Tylor Matthew.

Those left to remember his life include his wife, Lucille Cain of the home, and his daughter, Velma Kirk and husband Ricky of Stilwell, OK. He also leaves two sisters, Loretta Stacy of Stilwell, OK and Galeta Bowman of Wellington, KS. He lives on in his grandchildren, Mitchell Kirk of Stilwell, OK, Latosha Kirk of Ft. Smith, AR, Patrick Kirk and wife Morgan of Siloam Springs, AR, Jessica Pettit and husband Watie of Stilwell, OK, Dustin Kirk of Stilwell, OK, and Keyshawn Kirk also of Stilwell, OK. He also leaves seven great grandchildren, Aiden Kirk, Hunter Kirk, Tylor Kirk, Caleb Kirk, Indigo Kirk, Weston Smith and Ivory Kirk.

The family will gather at Elm Tree Baptist Church for luncheon at noon, and all are invited to attend.

Funeral services for Larry Lee Cain will be held on Monday, July 26th, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Elm tree Baptist Church with Pastor DJ McCarter officiating. Pallbearers for Larry include Roy Holmes, Randy Cain, Levi Dickson, Tony Dickson, Dakota Whiteyes, Eddie Hummingbird, Wallie Hummingbird, Terry Hummingbird, and Brian Sweptston. Honorary pallbearers include Mitchell Kirk, Patrick Kirk, Dustin Kirk, and Keyshawn Kirk. His family will receive visitors Saturday, July 24th, 2021 beginning at 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Reed-Culver Funeral Home in Tahlequah. He will be laid to rest at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Tahlequah, OK.
