Lavern Templeman

April 29, 1931April 18, 2021

Lavern Vaughn-Templeman was born on April 29th, 1931 in Oleo, AR, the daughter of James Walter and Myrtle (Owens) Vaughn. She grew up with a twin brother, Leon and one sister, Shirley. She graduated from high school and then decided to raise her family, and she did that with great success. There were five sons and three daughters, Bobby, Stanley, Barry, Gary, Randy, Kathy, Kim, and Shelly. She absolutely adored them and anything they tried in life, she was their biggest supporter. She worked for years as a House Manager for the Oklahoma Production Center. She was kind, considerate, and always looked after those that needed her help. When she wasn’t working to support her family, she was working at home. She was always working in her yard, and raised the most beautiful roses. She was an avid reader and loved a good romance novel to spend the day and always read her Bible. She read her Bible to the point of wearing several out. She was a faithful member of Northside Baptist Church, donating to every cause that required help. She had a heart as big as the backyard, and was often moved to tears by acts of kindness, love and just being able to be with the family she adored. Whenever you showed up at her house, she wouldn’t dream of letting you go until she had fed you one of her pot of bean dinners. She loved to cook for her children and grandchildren, and often made big meals for birthday parties and holidays. Lavern enjoyed a good game of bingo and liked to win prizes so she could give them to her grandbabies. She was warm and funny, always nurturing, and making life for those around her better than she found it. The Lord called this good and faithful servant home from her labors on April 18th, 2021 after reaching the age of 89 years, 11 months, and 20 days. She will be missed for the generous outpouring of love she gave daily.

Lavern is preceded in death by her grandparents, three sons, Bobby Wilson Templeman, Gary Templeman, and Randy Templeman, her daughter, Kim Osborn and her twin brother, Leon Vaughn.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Kathy Haddock and husband David of Tahlequah, Shelly Cooper and husband Chuck of Adair, OK, Stanley Templeman and wife Debbie of Wewoka, OK, Barry Templeman and wife Kim of Midwest City, OK, and her sister, Shirley James and husband Ronnie of Waldron, AR. She lives on in her 15 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
