Lenard Taft Deckard was born on June 30th, 1962 in Cushing, OK, the son of Edward Taft and Janis Gail (Ryker) Deckard. There were four brothers to grow up and get into mischief with, Donald, Larry, Edward and Tracy. He attended school and then began his career servicing vehicles for tires. Whenever he had free time, there was always a favorite place to go hunting or fishing. He loved the purr of a fast car and racing them was a favorite pastime. If he wasn’t racing them he was working under the hood to make them run faster and more efficient. He liked to curl up in the evenings with a good western, and Louie L’Amour was a favorite. He was a hard working, honest and dependable man. He had a way of making you feel right to home when you were around him. He had a smile that would light up a room and loved any chance he had to be those he loved the most, his family. He adored his son and daughter, and his grandchildren were the best people on earth. Whenever the family gathered together, Lenard would be right there, enjoying every minute. He was so very proud of his children and grandchildren and always gave them the best advice he could to help them along. Lenard lived a full life, but a brief life. He passed from this life on May 22nd, 2018 in Ft. Smith, AR, with his loved ones at his side. He was 55 years old. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother, Donald Lorett.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, James Weaver and companion Tabitha Bluebird of Tahlequah, OK and his daughter, Heather Brackett and husband Chris of Wagoner, Ok. He leaves three brothers and their families, Larry Deckard and wife Debbie of Tahlequah, Edward Deckard and wife Tammy of Tahlequah, and Tracy Deckard also of Tahlequah. He lives on in his 6 grandchildren, Brooklyn Weaver, Callie Weaver, Makenna Weaver, Natalie Weaver, Isabella McLemore, and Eli Brackett. He also leaves his nieces and nephew, Sonya Davidson, Amanda Deckard, Tera Deckard, Kasey Caldwell, Ommie Caudle, Maggie Sunday, and Emmanuel Deckard, as well as many cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
