Lenora Patrick taylor was born on March 10th, 1921 and passed away January 31st, 2013, at the age of 91 years. Her Mother, Florence Patrick and her father Ted Patrick preceded her in death. Her father immigrated from Bulgaria as a young man. He, alone, traveled from the east coast to Oklahoma, and in Cherokee County, he met and married Miss Florence Wallace. During our nation's great depression, Florence and Ted put down roots in Tahlequah where he ran a modest restaurant, and Florence became a housewife. They raised 11 children. Lenora was the fifth-born daughter of nine girls; two sons arrived later. As a young woman, Lenora was a petit, blue-eyed brunette who was shy, rather quiet, and very observant. She married Gilbert Thompson Taylor, a Tahlequah man twelve years her senior. They married when Lenora was 19 or 20 years old. They had two children, Gary and Joyce. Gary was born in Tahlequah in 1941 and Joyce was born in Tulsa in 1944, where their father was employed at McDonald-Douglas Company. Shortly after 1944, Gilbert Taylor passed away after a brief illness thought to be "walking pneumonia." Lenora assumed the role as a single mother and moved from Tulsa back to Tahlequah, her family and her hometown, and raised her two children. Over the years, Lenor's hobbies included quilting and sewing, local history and reading. The Carnegie Library was one of her favorite reading sources. Lenora kept in close contact with her brothers and sisters who lived in the area, and she maintained regular correspondence with the sisters who had moved out of the state. Through her interest in quilting, she exchanged patterns with relatives, long-time friends, and she met new friends this way. Her daughter recently learned that Lenora had been recognized for quilt entries in the Muskogee County and the Gallop, NM Craft Shows. Now, several quilts are left as keepsakes. Lenora is survived by her son, Gary Gilbert Taylor, and her daughter, Joyce Wadley-Brown. She is survived by Gilbert Taylor, Gary's son and Gilberts wife, Christy. Gilbert and Christy have two daughters, Jamie Johnson and Sarah Taylor all of Tahlequah. Also by Gary's daughter, Tammy, and her two children, Erielle and Abby, as well as Gilbert and Tammy's mother, Glenda Morrell. Lenora is survived by her daughter, Joyce Wadley-Brown and her husband Carlos. By Grandson, Dean Wadley III, who is the son of Joyce and the late Dean Wadley Jr. Also by Amber, wife of Dean III, and by their children, Kaitlin, Connor, and Taylor Wadley of Oklahoma City, OK. Of ten brothers and sisters, only one survives, Jean Patrick Helm. The names od those that preceded Lenora read like a lyric, Rena, Margaret, Zina, Virginia, John Thomas, Carrie, Jimmy, Evangeline, and Eva. Other survivors include her nieces and nephews: a special loved one, Patsy Carter Smith and her husband Ron. Nephews are Jerry carter and wife Charlotte, and Jerry's children, Merry Lee and Galen.
