

Leroy Wolf was born on December 10th, 1938 in Adair County, OK, the son of Richard and Lillie Mae (Acorn) Wolf. He grew up in a large household with five brothers and seven sisters, Richard, Maudine, Delora, Jenora, Vernon, Monroe, Mildred, Kathryn, Larry, Cynthia and Florene. He graduated from Sequoyah High School and then began his studies at NSU. He met and married Nanita Drywater on December 15th, 1961, in Tahlequah, OK. Together they would raise a daughter, Sonya and a son, William. He would then complete his working career as a Facility Manager for Sequoyah High School, and for SIPI, Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute, where he later would retire. The final eight years he worked as the Tero Director for Cherokee Nation. He was very proud of his Cherokee Heritage, and worked as the Treasurer for the Sequoyah High School Alumni Association for years. LeRoy He possessed a strong work ethic, never leaving his job for someone else to do. He was quiet, and very serious about his work. He never took shortcuts, but made sure the job at hand was done right the first time, everytime. When he had spare time, he loved playing softball, and enjoyed woodworking, making any number of items. He kept busy working in the Elks Lodge, the VFW, the American Legion, and the Sertoma Club of Tahlequah. He is of the Baptist faith and had been a Deacon at the Indian Baptist Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico. LeRoy adored his grandchildren and never tired of time spent with them. He was their biggest supporter in all their accomplishments. He lost his beloved Nanita in 2017. He remained with Sonya and her family, enjoying watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. The Lord saw he was growing weary and called him from this life on July 3rd, 2021 in Ardmore, OK. He was 82 years old and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John B. and Adeline (Smith) Acorn and his paternal grandparents, Richard and Nannie (Bean) Wolf Sr., his parents, his loving wife Nanita in 2017, and five sisters, Maudine Wolf, Delora Wolf, Jenora Wolf-Romancito, Kathryn Wolf Wabnum, and Cynthia Wolf.
Those left to celebrate his life include his children, Sonya Isley and companion Brian Reed of Ardmore, OK, William Wolf and companion Yvonne Chavez of Albuquerque, NM. He also leaves his brothers and sisters, Richard Acorn and wife Judy of Stilwell, OK, Vernon Wolf and wife Angeline of Tulsa, OK, Monroe Wolf of Tulsa, OK, Mildred Wolf-Cochran and husband Jim of Tahlequah, OK, Larry Wolf and wife Ruby of Zuni, NM, and Florene Calabaza and husband Ralph of Albuquerque, NM. He lives on in his four grandchildren, Kyle Cummings and wife Amanda of Broken Arrow, OK, Laramie Isley and wife Tiffany of Ardmore, OK, Clarissa Chavez of Albuquerque, NM, and Rheanna San Miguel and husband Omar of Albuquerque, NM. His great grandchildren include Cheyenne Isley of Ardmore OK, Gabriella San Miguel of Albuquerque, NM, Kaycee Isley of Ardmore OK, and Autry Cummings of Broken Arrow, OK. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.
Funeral services for Leroy Wolf will be held on Friday, July 9th, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Mulberry Baptist Church with Pastor Gil Hooper officiating and Richard Acorn reading the obituary. Pallbearers for Leroy include Larry Vance, Archie Vance, Tim McLemore, Jason Kelley, Skyler Sutherland, and Charles Cochran. Honorary pallbearers include Kyle Cummings, Laramie Isley,Omar San Miguel, and Lorren Isley. The family will host a Visitation on Thursday July 8th, 2021 at Reed-Culver beginning at noon until 6:00 PM. He will be laid to rest at Mulberry Cemetery in Adair County, OK.
