Lrinda Petersen

Lrinda Joyce (Powell) Petersen was born on October 4, 1966, the youngest of twelve children to James Lee and Edith Mae (Roberts) Powell. As fate would have it, the very first night the family spent in their new home was also Lrinda’s first night home with them—a fitting beginning to the life of a woman who would go on to make a house a home for her own family.

Lrinda attended Lost City Elementary School and later graduated from Hulbert High School in 1984. It was during her school years that she met the “boy next door”—technically, he lived across some fields and fences. That boy was Christopher Petersen, who would become the love of her life.

Shortly after graduating high school, Lrinda married Christopher on July 27, 1984. Together, they built a life and a family rooted in love, devotion, and countless memories. They were blessed with four children, though one was taken from them far too soon. Together, Lrinda and Christopher raised their three children, who would go on to bless them with many grandchildren and a lifetime of loving memories.

Lrinda passed away on September 22, 2026, at 7:33 a.m., leaving behind a family who will forever carry her love with them.

Our mother always did what was needed for our family. She was blessed with a husband who provided what their family needed so that she could stay home and devote herself to caring for their house and children. She gave her family her time, her love, and herself.

She was an amazing mother to her children and an outstanding grandmother to her grandchildren. Her family was her life, and the love she poured into them will continue through every generation that follows.

Lrinda will be remembered not only for the years she lived, but for the love she gave, the family she built, and the memories she leaves behind.

Lrinda was preceded in death by her beloved husband and the love of her life, Christopher Petersen; her son, Christopher Alan Petersen II, who was taken from them far too soon; her grandson, Mason Ruiz; her parents, James Lee Powell and Edith Mae (Roberts) Powell; and her siblings, Andrew Powell, Ronnie Powell, Larry Powell, Lucille Goff, John (J.A.) Powell, James Powell, Priscilla Estep, and Lyndell Powell.

Lrinda leaves behind her three children: Julie Petersen, David Petersen and his wife, Kayla, and Amy Ruiz and her husband, Marcos.

She leaves behind eleven grandchildren who brought immense love and joy into her life: David Petersen Jr., Cadence Dunlap, RyLee Petersen, Skyler Ruiz, Neveah Ruiz, Taylor Leggett, Isaiah Ruiz, Aaron Leggett, Alexis Ruiz, Weston Petersen, and Lulu Harvey.

She is also survived by her siblings, Pamela Chapps, Alan Powell, and Carl Powell; her sister-in-law, Christa McCoy; and her mother-in-law, Allene Allison.

A special place in Lrinda’s life was held by her sister-in-law, Sandra Powell, who was always there for her through all of life’s highs and lows. Sandra’s presence was a constant source of love and support in Lrinda’s life, and that bond will always be a treasured part of her story.

Lrinda also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends, all of whom will carry their own special memories of her and the love she shared with them.

Above all, Lrinda leaves behind a family who will carry her love, lessons, memories, and the imprint she made on their lives for generations to come.
