Marie Zelma Layne Moore

Tahlequah, OK- Funeral services for Marie Zelma Moore will be held on Tuesday, November 19th, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Reed-Culver Chapel with Leslie Dallis officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 18th, 2013 from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM at Reed-Culver Chapel. Interment will follow at Towie Cemetery in Cherokee County, OK. Pallbearers for Marie include Lee Towie, James Allen, Thomas Talbert, Cody long, Arter Epperson, and Joshua Martin. Honorary pallbearers include Micheal Fouch and Christopher Walker.

Marie Zelma Moore was born on April 18th, 1927 to E.C. and Mary (Johnson) Layne. She attended school at Gideon and spent many happy hours playing with her brothers and sisters on the family farm. Most of her early working career was spent at Sparks Hospital in Ft. Smith, AR, where she retired in 1992. She later worked as a child care provider and showered the little ones in her care with love. Whenever Marie wasn’t working, she worked at home raising large gardens and canning the produce to feed her family. She enjoyed quilting whenever she got the chance. The light of her life were her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed watching them grow and learning new life skills. Every one of her grand and great grandchildren was a source of pride and many hours of happiness to Marie. She was never one to sit and watch the world go by, Marie was always in the middle of life, working, walking (a hobby she enjoyed) and just being with her family. Marie was a member of the Holiness faith and enjoyed time spent with her church family .The Lord called his good and faithful servant home on Thursday, November 14th, 2013 in Tahlequah, OK with her loved ones gathered close by her side. Marie was 86 years old. She will be greatly missed for her smile, her gentle spirit and the boundless love she shared with all who knew and loved her.

Marie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard Moore in 1973, one sister, Ruby Myrick, and four brothers, Joe Benjamin, Charlie Dee, Logan Scott, Bill Layne, and great grandson Adyn Fouch.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Emma Lee Epperson and husband Arter of Tahlequah, OK, and her son, Ronnie Dale Towie and wife Renae of Tahlequah, OK. Her beloved grandchildren include Vanessa Sunday and companion, Michael Fouch of Tahlequah, OK, Jessie and husband Chris Walker of Tahlequah, OK, Tiffany Long and husband Cody of Tahlequah, OK, Cody Cheyenne Towie of Tahlequah, OK., Dustin Towie of Tahlequah, Christian Epperson, Micheal Epperson, and Timothy Epperson all of Tahlequah. Her legacy lives on in her great grandchildren, Jadyn Long, Sophia Walker, Christopher Walker, Aaleaha Walker, Jordan Russell, and Bria Fouch, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends and loved ones.
