Martha Jean Glass

Martha Jean Glass, 88, of Oaks, Oklahoma, peacefully entered her eternal home with the Lord on August 18, 2026. She was born February 4, 1938, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to Jonas Glass and Maggie (Hider) Glass.

Martha spent much of her life caring for others. Through the Foster Parent Program and her work with Oaks School, caring for children became more than something she did. It was simply part of who she was. She had a soft spot for babies, loved her grandbabies dearly, and became "Granny" to many along the way. She enjoyed the simple things that made a house feel like home: sewing, working puzzles, tending her flowers and garden, and having people over for dinner. She loved hummingbirds, the color blue, going for walks, and settling in to watch a good western or a scary movie. Martha also loved traditional foods, especially wild onions, hog meat, frybread and fried potatoes. She also enjoyed shrimp, which she called tsi-s-dv-na, and she wasn't above enjoying some KFC either. Her table was a place for good food, but more importantly, it was a place for people. She enjoyed having family and friends around her, and there always seemed to be room for one more.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her sons, Wesley Ketcher and David Ketcher; her daughter, Lucinda Chewie; her brothers, Jimmie James, Bill Glass, Leon Glass, and Bobby Glass; her sister, Wynona Cornshucker; and one granddaughter, Maggie Ketcher.

She is survived by her children, Albert Ketcher (Joyce), Jonathan Chewie (Kim), Jamie Ketcher, and Judy Ketcher (Terry); sisters Louella Tehee, Virginia Gritts, and Patricia Bird; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.

Martha's life was filled with children to love, people to feed, flowers to tend, walks to take, and plenty of movies to watch. She will be deeply missed, warmly remembered, and undoubtedly thought of whenever the family gathers around a full table, spots a hummingbird, or hears someone suggest a scary movie.
