Mary Ruth Sumpter Hubler was born in Gore, OK on February 23rd, 1934, the daughter of Andrew Galloway and Almeda (Brown) Sumpter. She grew up with six brothers and one sister, and attended school in Gore. She met and married her best friend, Howard Douglas Hubler on March 1st, 1951 in Gore, OK. This marriage was blessed with 59 years of memories, two sons and one daughter, David, Michael, and Sandra. She was lovingly called Ruthie girl by her dad and Ruth by her family. Ruth assisted the OSU Entomology Department doing studies and practical application of ticks, particularly in livestock such as cattle. When she wasn’t working Hereford and Black Angus on the family farm, she was busy caring for her children and grandchildren. She was fascinated with the family geneaology and kept records of all the information she could find. She liked being out doors and raising large vegetable gardens and beautiful flowers. She canned her vegetables to help cook the holiday meals she enjoyed making for her family. There was nothing better than gathering for one of Ruth’s fried chicken dinners, complete with cole slaw, potato salad, beans and corn bread, and her wonderful pecan pie. She raised rabbits and sold the pelts to supplement the family income. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and came from three of the original families on the Mayflower. Ruth and her husband were both faithful and devoted members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she served as relief society president and taught classes whenever needed. She loved traveling to Nauvoo, IL studying church history. She was the grandmother that attended every ballgame, baptism and wedding for her grandchildren, she adored them. She was always ready to join Howard in a trip to see someplace she hadn’t seen before, together they traveled the USA. She had a beautiful smile, and a servants heart. She was kind and loving, always ready to lend a hand or listen when you needed a friend. Her beloved Howard passed in 2010, and she remained close to her family, enjoying every precious memory she made with them. Her health began to fail her, yet Ruth remained happy in her families presence until the Lord called this faithful servant home on Wednesday, April 11th, 2018 at her home in Gore, surrounded by those she loved. She was 84 years old. She will be greatly missed. She is preceded in death by her mother, father, husband Howard, five brothers and their wives, Howard and Betty Sumpter, Arvel Sumpter, Clifford and Willa Sumpter, Calvin Sumpter, and Jimmie Sumper and wife Carol and her sister, Doris Smithson and her husband WA. She also joins one granddaughter, Amy Ruth Hubler.
