Matthew Buckhorn left us on June 4th, 2024, in Tahlequah Oklahoma. Matthew was the son of Jimmy and Carolyn Buckhorn. He was raised along with his brother Brian Buckhorn. He attended school at Tahlequah High School, and then decided on an Industrial Sand blasting career through Turbine Masters. This was not just a job; it was a source of pride and connection. He cherished the relationships he built with colleagues over the years, a group who became a second family to him. This work also offered the incredible reward of travel, allowing him to explore the world while occasionally reuniting with his beloved children in Arizona. When it was his off season, he would spend his time doing the things that he enjoyed. He could spend hours talking about anything that had to do with space. The vastness of space and the mysteries it held were his passion. He craved the unknown, the things that defied human understanding. He was a multifaceted artist, equally adept at the meticulous detail required for stunning tattoos and the grand vision needed for breathtaking masterpieces, captivating everyone who saw his work.
The water was his sanctuary, washing away the mental clutter and leaving him clear-headed and at peace. Matthew was more than a grill master; he was a master of creating memories. He used any reason to fire up the grill and cook for the people he loved. Matthew possessed an aura that drew people in. Within moments of entering a room, he would be sparking conversations and forging connections, all while enjoying a good drink. His jokes were as sharp as his taste in music. Whether it was a hilariously obscure reference or a perfectly timed quip, he could make you laugh while simultaneously recommending a few of his favorite bands and their significance to him. Music was not just entertainment for Matt; it was a vibrant tapestry woven into the fabric of his humor. He had a laugh that could light up a room, a contagious joy that drew people in. But his greatest joy came from being a father. He held on as long as he could, fighting to spend every moment with us. His love for his children Larissa, Jacob, and Makenzie was boundless, and he strived to be the best father he could be until the very end, which came far too soon on June 4th, 2024. At only 43, Matt’s passing leaves a gaping hole in our hearts and a multitude of unanswered questions. Yet, his love will continue to live on through us every day. As we carry him in our memories, we will forever cherish the love we shared and feel the ache of his absence.
Matthew was predeceased by his parents Jimmy and Carolyn Buckhorn, his grandparents John and Annie Buckhorn, and Harold and Lois Maxine Carpenter.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved children Larissa, Jacob, and Makenzie Buckhorn, his brother Brian Buckhorn, and many additional family and friends. Though your physical presence is gone, your spirit lives on in all of us. Our love for you is endless. May you find peace in the arms of the universe.
Matthew's memorial service will be held at Reed and Culver Funeral Home on Friday June 21, 2024 at 2:00pm.
