For Melvin, a day spent cooking brisket and visiting with family was time well spent. He also enjoyed heading out to fish, spending the day by the water with a line in and seeing what might bite. When it came to sports, Melvin’s loyalties stayed close to home. He followed the Oklahoma City Thunder and the OU Sooners, enjoying the excitement of basketball and football season. Cooking, fishing, family, and his favorite teams were familiar parts of his life and the things those who knew him will remember fondly.
Melvin worked as a service station attendant at Lakeview Grocery. His life also included the important roles of brother and uncle, and he leaves behind a family who will miss sharing those everyday moments with him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Kaulaity and Melvina (Tounwin) Stevens; his brother, Scotty Stevens; and his sister, Revina Teague.
Those left to cherish his memory include his brother, Paul Stevens; his sister, Ethelene Stevens; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loved ones.
Melvin will be dearly missed, and his family will remember him with love in the everyday moments they once shared. There will be brisket on the table, fishing plans to make, and plenty of cheering for the Thunder and Sooners.
