He then served his country as a United States Marine. After receiving his honorable discharge, he married the love of his life, Renita Arlene Crittenden, on November 27, 1979 in Miami, OK. This union was blessed with three children, Nathan, Tanya, and DeKeana. Yogi was a hard working man. He was employed by Cherokee County at the District 2 Barn. When he wasn’t working, he was always fixing a vehicle or building onto the house. He was a collector of baseball cards and loved to spend a leisurely day attending auctions . He liked playing bingo or meeting friends at the casino. The best days for Yogi involved being with his wife, children, and grandchildren preparing a large meal for them to share. His family was the central point of his life. He loved each and every one of them for the individuals they became. His family expanded with many children and grandchildren, and Yogi made room in his heart for them all. A Pentecostal by faith, Yogi placed his trust in God to care for him and his family. The Lord called Yogi home from his labors on January 22, 2011 at his home with his family at his side. Yogi was 51 years old.
Yogi was welcomed home by his father Robert, his son Nathan, who preceded him in 1981, two sisters, Lois Skinner and Dianna Qualls and his mother-in-law, Juanita Crittenden.
