Narcie Hooper-Holcomb was born on February 4th, 1945 in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of Sam and Lizzie (Christie) Hooper. She grew up in a household with her four brothers, Jesse Lee, Richard, Bobby and Leo. She grew up in the Welling Community and it was here she went to school and met the man who would capture her heart, Charley Holcomb. They were married at the courthouse, and together, they would share years of happiness, memories, the occasional bad moment, yet always together, and with their four sons, Johnny, Randy, Ricky and Charley Jr. Theirs was a home designed to live on love and respect. She was her husband’s right hand, and traveled with him extensively. Where ever he preached , she was there supporting and encouraging, helping him to have time to dedicate to those who needed him. When she was at home, she enjoyed keeping house for her husband, sons, and all of her family. She made the best homemade bread, kanuche, biscuits and gravy, crawdads and perch, and wild onions. There was nothing that made her happier than her sons playing ball and her yelling for them. There were bargains at the garage sales to find, crawdad hunting, perch fishing with the family, and grandchildren to love on. She was a proud Cherokee woman and loved her traditions and attended stomp dances, watched Leo play drums, spoke Cherokee, and taught her family to love and appreciate the gift of being born into the Cherokee Nation. She had a smile that made you feel welcome in her home, she was warm and funny and always made time for the family she adored. She lost her husband in 2018. She continued life with her family until the Lord called this wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend home in December 10, 2020, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, AR. She was 75 years old and leaves a lasting legacy for her family to follow.
She is preceded in death by her mother, father, three brothers, Jessie Lee Hooper, Richard Hooper, and Bobby Hooper, and her grandparents.
Those left to cherish her memory include her four sons, Johnny Hooper of Phoenix, AZ, Randy Hooper and wife Mary of Tahlequah, OK, Ricky Holcomb and wife Naomi of Arlee, MT, and Charley Holcomb Jr. and wife Jeannie of Welling, OK. Her memory lives on in her eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
