Newman Sewell was born on October 15th, 1943 in Holdenville, OK, the son of George and Mollie (Powell) Sewell. He grew up with 11 brothers and sisters, and attended Sequoyah Schools. He worked in maintenance for WW Hastings Hospital for over 30 years and loved every minute of the people he worked with each day. He was easy going and seldom angry. He enjoyed life just the way he found it and the view from his front porch was the best! When he wasn’t working, he loved time spent fishing, hunting, gathering pecans, walnuts and wild onions, and knew how to catch crawdads for a really special meal. He loved to cook you his famous meatloaf, and took it to work to share with his friends and coworkers. Any chance to be with his grandchildren was special for Newman, he adored them. If they were in any sporting event or school function, he was there, as their biggest fan! Newman could fix anything and usually did, from cars to trucks, lawnmowers to household items. Newman was talented, funny, kind, and loving. He never tired of spending time with his family and loved weekends and holidays. A Christian by faith, Newman was a member of the Johnson Prairie Baptist Church in Moody, OK. The Lord called this kind and faithful servant home from his labors on October 29, 2022 at the age of 79 years old. He will be missed.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother and father, three brothers, Paul, Jack and Willie Sewell, five sisters, Aggie, Velma, Margie, Melinda, and Harriett, a daughter, Baby Girl Sewell in 1972, and grandson, Daylon Sewell.

His brothers and sisters include Thomas Sewell and wife Becky of Dallas, TX, Wanda Hulbutta of Wewoka, OK, and Debra Sewell of Wewoka, OK.
