She grew up in a household with her three brothers and four sisters, Charlie, Jesse “Frank”, George, Geraldine, Edith, Melba and Belle. She met and married her best friend and the love of her life, Edward E. Carney on June 6th, 1964. Together they would raise a family of five sons and one daughter, Edward II, Timothy, Joseph D., Jesse H., Christopher, and Angela, and enjoyed 53 years of love and happiness. Jo was a homemaker, and there was nothing more important than her husband, children, and grandchildren’s happiness. She worked tirelessly to keep her home and prepare meals for her family. She loved any chance to be outdoors, working in the garden raising beautiful vegetables and flowers. She was happy to gather her family home for a backyard cookout, and there was always something wonderful to eat. She taught every one of her grandchildren how to cook and to make her famous biscuits. Jo liked time spent playing cards, she liked poker, or maybe sitting on the shore doing a little fishing. Later, she would enjoy the occasional trip to the casino. Weekends would find Jo out at the garage sales and flea markets, hunting for a bargain. If there was any chance of a road trip, Jo was ready to go and see the sights. She loved traveling. Her grandchildren were the apple of her eye, and Jo was normally found resting with a grandchild parked comfortably on her lap. She was proud of them and all their accomplishments. She was happy just to be with her family, she adored them. She was the mother who always understood, was quick with a smile and loved unconditionally. She was the neighbor that was there when you needed her, and the Grandma that made the best cookies ever! She was a Christian by faith, and the Lord called this good and faithful servant home from her labors on May 6th, 2018, at her home surrounded by those who loved her. She was 71 years old and will be greatly missed. She is preceded in death by her mother, father, one brother, Charlie Truitt, one sister, Melba Breeden, and two grandsons, Steven Carney and Daniel Horton. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Edward E. Carney of the home in Chouteau, and her five adored children, Edward E. Carney II and wife Lisa of Locust Grove, OK, Timothy D. Carney and wife Debra of Chouteau, OK, Joseph D. Carney and wife Kelli of Locust Grove, OK, Jesse H.
