Born on April 6, 1962, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Janie grew up in a loving home surrounded by family who adored her. This nurturing environment helped shape her into the vibrant, caring, and strong-willed person she became. She graduated from Hulbert High School in 1980. Janie then spent over two decades serving her community as a medical clerk at W.W. Hastings hospital in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Her selfless dedication and caring nature earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and patients alike. Janie met the love of her life, Tommie Jenkins, in 1991 and the two were inseparable as they built a life most would envy.
Janie's early years were spent being the life of the party and making everyone laugh, while dabbling in Merle Norman and Mary Kay cosmetics. She had a passion for collecting colorful blue glass trinkets, as her favorite color was blue. She loved spending time with her daughter Brittany, taking her shopping at the Arrowhead Mall, where they'd spend hours browsing their favorite stores. The goal was always to find new treasures and make memories together. Brittany was the light of her life.
She loved reality TV, animal shows, and the timeless tunes of country legends like Loretta Lynn and Elvis Presley. As a true music fan, she even visited Graceland and Vegas with her sister and family creating memories that would last a lifetime. In recent years the trips to Justin’s (Bub) house were her favorite as they laughed themselves to tears as Janie jokingly complained about the temperature.
Janie loved attending events in her hometown of Hulbert, especially the Hulbert Parade. Whether it was a parade, a festival, or just a small-town gathering she was always ready to join in on the fun and make some unforgettable memories. Janie was a pillar of her community in Hulbert, always willing to lend a helping hand or offer a listening ear. Her kindness, generosity, and compassion inspired countless lives, and her legacy will continue to be felt for generations to come. In her free time, Janie enjoyed simple pleasures - sipping on Dr Pepper, feeling the cool breeze of her fan, and sending Tommie or Brittany to grab the latest snack of the month.
Family meant the world to Janie. She deeply loved her family and cherished every moment spent with them. Whether it was a family gathering, a holiday celebration, or just a simple Sunday dinner, Janie was always there, spreading love, laughter, and joy. She gave all for her family.
