Phyllis Naomi Clinton

Tahlequah, OK- Funeral service for Phyllis Luper-Clinton will be held on Friday, November 7th, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Reed-Culver Chapel with Brother Donnie Clinton officiating. There will be a visitation for Phyllis on Wednesday, November 25th, 2020 beginning at 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Reed-Culver Funeral Chapel. She will be laid to rest with her family at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Cherokee County, OK. Online condolences for her family may be left at www.reedculver.com.

Pallbearers for Phyllis include Biggie Kirk, Chase Funk, Eric Carter, Donald Crawford, Jake Clinton, Steve Sturgeon, and Max Easter. Her honorary pallbearers include Bob Dodd, Harvey Ragland, Nathan Chumley and James Chumley.

Phyllis Naomi Clinton was born on July 26, 1937 in Cool, CA, the daughter of Clyde and Irene (Beam) Luper. She grew up in a family with two brothers, Pete and Dale. Phyllis graduated from Will Rogers High school in Tulsa, OK in 1955. Phyllis married the most amazing man, George Clinton, on August 7, 1963 in Tahlequah, OK. She had four children that she was so proud of, Larry, Gary, Denise, and Lori.

Phyllis worked in food service as a cook most of her life, working at both Davis Nursing Center and Go Ye Village. She was the best cook and could whip up a meal to feed so many out of the least amount of ingredients. No one ever went hungry at her house. Phyllis loved deeply and was known for opening her heart and home to many. There was always room for one more.

She was selfless, always doing for others and never asking anything in return. She had more compassion and unconditional love than anyone could ever need. Her spark and sass were infectious. She was a spitfire and could set the kids straight with a look. Her grandkids lovingly called her “mad granny".

She was such a bright light in this crazy world. Her faith in Jesus was unwavering and steadfast. She was of the Pentacostal faith and loved to read her Bible. Even after the loss of her husband, she continued to be the cornerstone of her family and the strong support they relied on.

Phyllis answered the call of her Lord and Savior to come home on Saturday November 21st, 2020 at her home with her family by her side. She was 83 years old.

She went to join her parents, her husband, George, one son, Larry, her brothers, Pete and Dale, and her great grandson, Blake.

Those left to cherish her memories include her son Gary Clinton and wife Lou of Louisa, VA, and daughters Denise Carter and husband Eric of Dewar, OK and Lori Clinton and boyfriend Donald Crawford of Tahlequah.

She will live on in the lives of her grandchildren, Bonnie, Eddie, Misty, Stephanie, Amber, Teri, Russell Jr., Schaelyn, Samantha, Jake, Chase, Ashley, Bri, Allan, and Joseph, 24 Great grandchildren, and 4 Great Great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a very special friend, Geraldine Jackson.

She will be missed everyday, but never forgotten.
