Polly Jane Dawes-Boyer was born on October 6th, 1946 in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of Samson and Bessie (Rattlingourd) Dawes. She grew up with four brothers and three sisters, Lee Keener, Ross Dawes, Sam Dawes, Mike Dawes, Callie Hildebrandt, Dr. Barbara Martens and Sherryl Dawes. She attended school and grew up in Tahlequah while spending many summers in Tulsa, when she and her siblings would venture around downtown Tulsa, including the train station and Cain’s Ballroom. After high school, Polly married, moved to Tulsa and worked for Sears Department Store and started her family. In the late 70’s, she attended the Sand Springs Beauty College and began her career as a beautician , where she made many wonderful friends. In the early 90’s, she moved to Van Buren, AR to work on a road construction crew. She eventually moved back to Tulsa to be close to her children and grandchildren.
After the passing of her mother, Bessie Dawes , she moved to Tahlequah to live with her younger sister that was handicapped and began yet another career, this time as a home health aide, which she did until the end of December 2023. She was a dedicated and hard worker. She was independent, strong-willed and spunky. She was willing to help anyone in need. She adored her 3 children, Dewayne, Ronnie and Janie and spending time with her 4 grandkids. Her family was very close and celebrated many holidays together. No matter the hardships she faced in life, she remained optimistic to the end. A Christian by faith, the Lord called this strong and resilient woman home from her many labors on January 15th, 2024 at her home in Tahlequah. She was 77 years old and will be missed.
