Randy Earl Trammel, 60, of Park Hill, Oklahoma was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma on July 16, 1965 to Leonard Earl and Wanda Sue (York) Trammel and departed this life on October 16, 2025, doing what he loved most, fishing.
Randy was raised in the Keys area where he graduated from 8th grade and then went on to attend Tahlequah High School. Growing up in this rural area with his younger brother, Bobby, he spent his childhood like a real country boy, outside hunting anything with wings or on four legs and fishing anytime he could get to the water. As a young boy, he and horses developed a mutual dislike for one another. It seemed every time he was anywhere near a horse he was either kicked, bit or stepped on!
During high school he worked part time at Midwestern Nursery. He also went on the wheat harvest in southern Oklahoma for a couple of seasons and this is when he and horses finally started getting along. Later in his adult years, he even worked as a groomsman at Blue Ribbon Downs in Sallisaw. He was a straightforward, no nonsense guy when it came to getting work done. He didn’t have a lazy bone in his body.
As a young man out of high school, he started a career in construction work where he met lifelong friend and drywall mentor, Rodney Kimble. That friendship lasted the rest of their lives, and Randy became one of the best drywall finishers in the area at that time. He was a hard worker with a big heart and was always willing to help someone in need. It seems he never met a stranger.
Most folks know Randy enjoyed the wilder side of life and didn’t seem to mind the bumps and bruises that came along with it. He learned how to bulldog from his friends, Manual Neale and the Hammers from Stilwell. He enjoyed lending a hand at the annual Wild West Rodeo held at the Harraway Ranch outside Vian, spending time with his dear friend, Joe Harraway. He had the scars to show for his rough and rowdy exploits but never expressed any regrets.
Randy was fond of good old-fashioned home-cooking, just like his Mama used to make. He never turned down an offer for supper or taking leftovers home for later. He had a sweet tooth too, and was always happy with pie or cake, and is remembered for the boxes and boxes of “Little Debbies” he would stock up on when he could.
He preferred spending his time outdoors, enjoying camping, arrowhead hunting and mushroom hunting. He was always ready to fish, any time and any place. If you said you were going, he’d likely respond with “catch ‘em all!”, unless he was going with you! And as his health began to fail in recent years, Randy still managed to find a way to the water where he could while away time doing what he loved most.
Randy is preceded in death by his parents and his infant son, Scout Winchester Trammel. Those left here to cherish his memory are his son Joshua Morton of Muskogee, Oklahoma and his daughter Kaylee Glass of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; granddaughters Adalynn Grace Morton and Wilamena Marie Farnsworth; brother Bobby Trammel and wife Sherri of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends. Randy will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services for Randy will be held Thursday, October 23, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Reed-Culver Funeral Chapel with Pastor Chip Hinds officiating. Randy will be laid to rest in Pettit Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Joshua Morton, Ethan Holcomb, Elijah Trammel, Adam Wallace, Joe Harraway and Jeff Taylor.
