Raymonde Edith Wilson was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts on August 2, 1931 to Julian V. and Madeline (Bernard) Vandorpe. Her parents had immigrated from France and Belgium. Raymonde, or Raye, as her family and friends knew her, graduated from Lawrence High School in 1949. In 1952, she married the love of her life, Thomas E. Wilson at Sacred Heart Chapel in Washington, DC. This marriage was blessed with forty-four years of marriage and three loving children, Diana, David, and Dale. Raye was content to be a housewife, looking after her husband and children. She did work for a time as a secretary at Tahlequah Abstract. When she wasn’t working, Raye loved time spent at the Bowling Alley bowling with her friends. Since Raye was a military wife, she was afforded the privilege of extensive travel all over the world. When her husband retired from the military, the family moved to Hulbert, OK where her husband spent the next twenty years as the postmaster. She was very talented with a needle, and did beautiful sewing, crocheting, and made her children’s clothes. She possessed a wonderful sense of humor and loved to share a laugh with her family. Her quiet time was spent watching westerns or reading a good book. Raye always made her family the central point of her life. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. A Catholic by faith, Raye went home to her Lord and Saviour on January 19, 2011 in Ft. Gibson, OK. She was 79 years old.
She is welcomed home by her parents, her loving husband Thomas, and her two adored sisters, Simone Hughes and Louise Zaikowski.
Those left behind to cherish her memory include her three adored children, Diana Lynne Wilson of Ardmore, OK, David Walter Wilson and wife Trisha of Tahlequah, OK, and Dale Edward Wilson and wife Lisa of Claremore, OK. She is survived by a brother-in-law Guy Wilson as well as three adored grandchildren, several great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends and loved ones.
