Our dear, sweet sister, mother, aunt and 'Gammy', Rita Louise Scott Stratton, passed away in the early morning hours of April 10, 2022 at her home surrounded by the love of her immediate family. She bravely battled cancer for more than thirteen years.
Rita was born on August 23, 1956 in Wichita, KS, to Charles and Rita Scott into a large and loving family. After moving to Tulsa Oklahoma, she attended school, married and began her family, eventually settling in the Tahlequah, OK area. After university graduation, she began her training as a licensed massage therapist. She had many clients in the Tahlequah area and enjoyed a growing practice. She founded The Palms Massage and Wellness Spa in Tahlequah with her daughter Megan where it continues to thrive.
Her calm, loving and friendly spirit was enjoyed by everyone who met her, not only family and friends, but her clients and strangers too. She was an active member in her church group and enjoyed her travel, sporting events, stained glass work and especially her time on the Illinois River with family and friends.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Nancy and Tricia. She is survived by her siblings Share, Charles Jr., (Sharon), Bruce-Paul (Anna), Thomas, Michael, Martha and John.
She also is survived by her loving daughter Megan White and her husband Chooch, son Jacob Lynn, who lives and works in Alabama, grandchildren Xander, Sydney, Alivia and Ava, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Our family thanks the numerous doctors, medical staff, friends and volunteers who helped us during this difficult time.
Memorial Services for Rita will be held on Tuesday, April 12th, 2022 at 2:00pm at Reed-Culver Funeral Home with Jarrod Railey officiating. A private burial will be held at a future date.
