Robbie Vaughn was born May 19, 1961 in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of John A. and Wilma R. (Farmer) Vaughn. A lifelong member of the Hulbert community and graduate of Hulbert High School, she was brought up in a full house of three brothers and five sisters. After school, she went on to become a clerk for Hulbert Public Works for many years before finding her calling as a direct lead for Brightway, providing care for those with special needs. Robbie possessed the kindest heart, full of generosity and selflessness, always thinking of others above herself. A devoted mother to her son Billy and grandmother of three precious grandbabies, Granny Rob was their biggest fan and supporter. She looked forward to trips to the creek with her grandkids and great nieces and nephews or having the family over for some of her good homecooking. Known for her creative skills and love for arts and crafts, she found joy in creating cozy handmade quilts, crocheting and painting. When she had a moment, as an avid fan of British murder mysteries and comedies, she looked forward to an evening cuddled on the couch to appreciate a well-written line or a twist no one saw coming. After a courageous battle with cancer, this humorous, caring and gentle soul was called to her eternal home on Thursday, September 4, 2025 surrounded by family. She was 64 years old. Though the thread of life has come to its end, the warmth of Robbie’s life—and spirit—will live on for generations.
She was welcomed into Heaven’s gates by her parents, John and Wilma Vaughn, one brother, Dewey Vaughn, two brothers-in-law, Bill McNatt and Jay Cook along with one sister-in-law, Sue Vaughn.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Billy Soban and wife Aubrey of Hulbert, OK, one step-daughter, Christina Sparks, two brothers, Wayne Vaughn and wife Sandra of Coweta, OK and Coy Vaughn and wife Tracie of Hulbert, OK and five sisters, Gail Patterson and husband Archie of Wagoner, OK, Susan McNatt of Talihina, OK, Patsy Duck and husband Delbert of Hulbert, OK, Tammy Cook of Hulbert, OK and Darlene Whitekiller and husband Jimmy, also of Hulbert. Her legacy lives on through her three adored grandchildren, Kaylei Cannon, Shiye Soban and Conner Tyer, many cousins, nieces, nephews and loved ones.
A visitation for Robbie will be held Tuesday, September 9, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Reed-Culver Funeral Home. Funeral services will occur Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Reed-Culver Chapel with Pastor Jeff Owen officiating. She will be laid to rest at Neugin Cemetery in Hulbert.
