

Funeral services for Roger Alan Acoya will be held on Thursday, December 10th, 2020 at 10:00AM at Reed-Culver Funeral Home in Tahlequah with Deacon Joseph Faulds of St. Brigid Catholic Church officiating. He will be laid to rest in Tahlequah City Cemetery. Online condolences for his family may be left at www.reedculver.com.

Roger Alan Acoya was born on January 31st, 1971 in Monument Valley, UT, the son of Arthur Roger Acoya and Oma Lorene (White) Acoya. He grew up with one brother and two sisters, Arthur, Marnie and DeeAnn, with Roger being the baby. He graduated from McCauley Regional High School in 1989, and began his college studies, which he enjoyed for years, the more he learned the better he liked life. He was laid back and displayed a kind and caring nature. He gave of his time and talent to others, and never met a stranger. Traveling around the country was always fun for him and he loved going to the ocean and watching the sun set at the beach. He played basketball with his nieces and nephews, and liked cooking out with his family to enjoy. He attended pow-wows and also the Native American Church. It was while visiting family in Winnebago, NE he attended and joined the Catholic Church at St. Augustine Mission. He loved his son, Alan his pride and joy, and always looked forward to seeing him. He was especially proud of him serving in the Marine Corp. Roger’s health failed him and he passed from this life on December 5th, 2020 in Springfield, MO at the age of 49 years. He will be missed.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Eliza White, Susie Acoya, and Margaret Quierco, and his mother and father.
His memory will be kept by his son, Alan Acoya of San Francisco, CA, and his brother and sisters, Arthur Acoya and companion Loretta Chama of Santa Domingo, NM, Marnie Acoya and husband James Herold of Mountainview, MO, and DeeAnn Acoya-Cleveland and husband Craig Cleveland Sr. of Winnebago, NE. He lives on in his nieces and nephews, Kevin Grindstaff of Iowa City, IA, Darren Grindstaff of Iowa City, IA, Natasha Acoya-Neitzel of Albuquerque, NM, Lorene Acoya of San Felipe , NM, Arthur Acoya III of Albuquerque, NM, Craig Cleveland Jr of Winnebago, NE, Cory Cleveland of Winnebago, NE, Caden Cleveland of Winnebago, NE, and Oma Acoya –Cleveland also of Winnebago, NE, also the Smith Family of Crownpoint, NM, stepmom Barbara Hahn of Bakerfield, CA, as well as many cousins and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.
